What's Spinning July 2023

I think that this is a lovely album.

As I recall, it was recommended by @Macspur in this thread some time ago…

I enjoyed it so much at the time that I bought the download, but I have been remiss in not listening to it for a while…

Johanna is probably my favourite track on the album…

Excellent!
I’m envious of the great gigs that you get to attend in Singapore…

Meanwhile, back to my (mixed bunch) playlist…

I enjoyed this documentary/film so, not surprisingly, I like the soundtrack too!

It’s got some great live performances, the standout tracks (for me) being ‘Morning Dew’ and ‘Althea’. EDIT: and ‘Scarlet Begonias’

The Aussie folks have it even better actually! I’m missing out on Slowdive there this weekend.

Snagging tickets here is another issue, it’s virtually urban guerrilla warfare to get tickets to any major gigs. Taylor Swift’s had over a million people in the online queue. Likewise for Coldplay’s, I had queue number 60,000, fortunately they’re playing multiple dates, so I managed to get good tickets.

Still, I can’t complain. Come September I get to catch Post Malone, Kings of Leon, Madness, and Groove Armada at the F1

Bauer Jonathan, Clash Sandinista is the greatest pop/rock/jazz/gospel or how ever it’s classified album of all time. It’s like a musical version of Where’s Waldo. I’m curious if you figured out Mensforth Hill?

I’m even more envious now!

The Aussies probably don’t realise that they’re so lucky on the gig front…

One of the advantages of albums is they can be spun backwards to hear hidden messages. The Clash being the Clash had to one up everyone. Mensforth Hill is Something About England backwards. The entire song. What I find fascinating is the vocal “chorus” is undecipherable forward and backwards. At one time I had an iOS app that would play songs backwards but I’m not sure such an app exists anymore. If so, it’s a fun listen.
