Pete, I do not know as of yet, but in general, if this button cell has the same function as in a PC, you never have to worry about it. Unless you would disconnect the unit for many years from mains, it will not drain. I still have some over 20 years old PCs here, and they never had a problem with their button cell.
I believe that’s actually the processor subassembly that handles the incoming ACTUS interface (and the battery probably powers its realtime clock?).
You are probably right
But where then is the SSD that contains the Linux distribution? And buffer? In the Core?
Your Varèse product works with Google Cast so you can stream
(music/tunes/podcast/playlists) from your phone, tablet, or laptop by selecting the Cast icon.
So now non-iPhone users have a way to stream common audio apps to the system without needing Airplay.
Really liking Mosaic ACTUS’s UI - clean, intuitive, and maximises the limited screen real-estate. Looking forward to it coming over to Mosaic VRBL.
Curious why there’re 2 UPnP source selection items?
I don’t think that the Actus interface per se is coming to VRBL. Andrew has only referred to the addition of certain features to a forthcoming version of Mosaic.
As usual we will have to wait and see.
I would disagree. From a User Interface design & development perspective, it makes absolute sense to converge to a single look & feel, rather than having 2 separate totally different look & feel. If you look at the Mosaic ACTUS UI, there’s little that is inherently Varèse about it. So, I’m quite hopeful it’ll come to Mosaic VRBL
I think this refers to Sort Order of the music files on the UPnP server.
UPnP server - Hide / Reorder then calls for changing the default sort order (or not: hide option):
By default, files in folder view are sorted first by album name (as tagged) and then by track number (as tagged) within each album.
You can change this default sort order […]
Why? UpnP does not refer to any kind of sort order. Its a network protocol allowing devices to recognise each other. And what has MinimServer to do with a recorder?
As for being sources ,USB isn’t a source either its a connection.
Why can you not hide streaming services that you may not subscribe to but you can hide other options?
I think that we have an issue with semantics and consistency here.
Re-order, not recorder. See the given link, to see what Minimserver has to do with sort order of music files.
Thanks Erno. Sadly my visual limitations are making it difficult to read and I may have to give up.
Sorry to hear that, Pete, but please do not give up!
Thanks for the encouragement but it is getting difficult.
Maybe this could be of help to you, if you have not done it already: you can change the Text Size of this community in your preferences, from Normal to Larger or Largest.
You should be able to do that at: https://dcs.community/u/par/preferences/interface
Thanks Erno. That is very thoughtful of you and welcome. I didn’t know that I could do that and it is very helpful. I have also been looking at some vision aids and may try again after the holidays as I like to avoid mail order at this time of year.
Very good to hear!
Hi Pete,
I hope I’m not being rude and you don’t take my comments as meddling in someone else’s business. Maybe this is a good time to try out a screen reader. NVDA is a free program that handles websites well. The difficulty may be that it slightly changes the way you navigate the computer interface and websites, which requires changing your habits and learning keyboard shortcuts. Best Regards Robert
Thanks Robert. Believe me that you are in no way rude or comments unwelcome. I take your advice on sight issues very seriously.
I will try your recommendation but I remember when I was trying the text/speech conversion on iPad during a dialogue between us a few years ago. The issue with images and icons being unrecognisable by the software was a big handicap. Lets see how NVDA copes ( or how I cope).
Anyway , the recent posts have drifted away from the topic ( my fault) so I hope that the next posting reverts to it.
Best Wishes,
Pete
