Feels like the right time to kick off a Vienna High End thread. So to get things rolling this is an interest check to see which of you are planning to be there in June. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet several forum members at last year’s Munich show and I am looking forward to meeting more of you this year. Although we won’t have our own room this year we’ll be there in force supporting our local distributor Audio Reference and some of our vendor partners. I’ll be organizing a reception or dinner for forum members, probably on Friday evening, but want to get an idea of numbers before making any plans.
If you’re planning to attend please DM me or post which day(s) below.
Yes, Thursday and Friday (trade days). I hope to meet up with any other forum members in real life. Looking forward to it and excited to find out what the new venue is like.
I’m flying out on Tue 2nd and returning to UK at stupid-o-clock Mon 8th. Keen to meet up with @AndrewS@August@Pdave@all2ofme and hopefully others. DM me with your days so we can coordinate?
I hope to split my time between room 0.49, A N Other room (number tbc) , both of which will have Reiki doing its magic, and generally wandering around drinking coffee and listening to stuff.
Are there any other forum members planning to attend? Please let me know!
I want to organize a little get together and need to know which days people will be there. At the moment it looks like one of the trade days is the best bet.
It made me not want to leave it was so enjoyable, the only thing that finally drove me out was all those class A tube amps making the booth feel very tropical
After an already thoroughly enjoyable experience of the first edition of Vienna High End, the forum members that attended @TheFlash@all2ofme@pdave , his wife and I were invited to a private listening session of the multichannel Trinnov-MCD-Perlisten system after hours.
I sit quite firmly in the stereo camp and this is probably not something that I would consider for my home, but I do think it’s a very exciting foray of dCS to apply their digital expertise and top-level technology in an adjacent but at the same time very different market. Especially with custom installations of home theaters there is great potential there. Having a discrete multichannel DAC is a product that in my view brings lots of benefits to that market not the least of which are reduced distortion, improved clarity and linearity. I probably don’t need to remind you as owners that our DACs also sound better than off the shelf solutions. So bravo dCS for sticking their neck out, I hope it will be a resounding success.
We just had the added pleasure of sharing a nice meal in Vienna with the forum members and some of the dCS team. I have to say, it was so nice meeting other forum members. I already knew this forum is such a genuinely civilised meeting place for fellow enthusiasts, the same goes for meeting them in real life.
Now the same goes for the people at dCS, they are such great people to meet and they are very passionate about what they do and the very high standards they set for quality and user experience. Hats off to them. By the way, we shared many laughs between us. This was stellar, thank you dCS team @AndrewS@James@Mark@Tom David Steven and all others! - the people at Trinnov were also great to help make the demo happen for us and generously gave us their time after a hard days work.
Will pop off to bed now, another day of high end awaits. Will try to write some more later.
Don’t know, but a great showcase for Varese. It’s an all-out demo setup. They actually switched to a TOTL SME vinyl setup during the demo - to showcase the SME, and to my ears the Varese was much better. I’m not a Wilson or Dan d’Agostino man myself, but that system was setup in the best way possible so it does provide you with a very big window on the performance.
