I’ve decided to take the plunge from a Rossini Apex and word clock with a Lina headphone amp to a Varese system and Lina headphone amp. I’m trying to figure out what would be a suitable power delivery system to the ecosystem. I don’t have the room in my music studio for an extremely large footprint nor do I want to spend more than say 10k (if possible). The studio is riddled with synthesizers, guitars, etc and is fully treated but I also use it as my quiet space to listen to music. I was thinking about purchasing a psaudio p12 (https://www.psaudio.com/products/perfectwave-powerplant-12/) . Any thoughts on if this would be a suitable solution or should I look elsewhere?
Have a look at an Accuphase power supply: PS-550 or PS-1250 depending on the amount of power you need. Fewer gee-whiz features, build quality several notches up.
Do you believe this to be a superior power delivery system? Brown outs/power issues aren’t common here but they do occur every now and then with high winds or storms. I typically turn off all systems before I leave town but that doesn’t necessarily mean I don’t forget an item or two. Based on my quick search, it appears to be roughly double the cost of the p12 and unknown at the moment where I may acquire one in stock. When it comes to cables or power delivery, I may not be as adamant or intense as some individuals but I certainly don’t want to compromise this wonderful system I’m acquiring.
I would go with Shunyata.
The everest-x looks quite promising. I do like the fact that I could swap it over to my mastering gear if need be.
I called my distributor and apparently there is a promotion for the Eiger-X and he can order me one. He believes this would be the optimal solution for the price/performance. In addition, he stated that he uses Shunyata products at home and it’s what they use at the store. I appreciate the individuals that took the time to reply to my questions. Thank you.

Hey. I use a P12 and it has successfully protected my gear during two storms. However, if you intend on plugging amps into your purchase, I would look elsewhere.
I’m fairly certain people would be appalled with my studio. There are cables and equipment everywhere. Further, I’m only using it on some fairly inexpensive Adam A7V’s and my headphones/iems; which range from Raal Immanis 1995’s to Subtonic Storms. All totl headphones/iems. Probably around 30 of them or so. I’ve never really felt the need to purchase higher end speakers since the treated room does an incredible job. I find the treated room to be a much more significant improvement in quality versus an incredibly expensive two channel setup (and I mix on headphones).
If practical, I recommend installing dedicated outlets from the power panel to your listening room before adding a power conditioner.
Unfortunately, it would be since this is my home studio. Next time, I’m going to make it a separate structure (and a proper studio built with sound isolation in mind…well, more extreme) even though my wife told me no. She was afraid she would never see me again; quite frankly, she’s right.
I just found out the Varese arrived at the distributor and I should receive it next week - very excited! Also, because why not, I ended up asking him to order me the Everest-X. They had it in black and the Varese I ordered is in black as well.
I’m so curious to hear the differences. I started out with a Bartok, then I added the Rossini word clock and finally upgraded to the Rossini Apex. Every step of the way I heard a substantial difference to the music. It was incredible. Believe it or not, I felt the most substantial jump was adding the word clock to the Bartok. To my ears, it was a night and day difference. Rossini Apex speaks for itself in relation to the Bartok but, for the money, Rossini word clock.
I’d definitely look elsewhere, not the P12.
In typical PS Audio fashion, they neglect to mention anywhere on their product website or in their product manual that the compact PowerPlants, including the P12, have fans for active cooling within the unit.
I have the previous generation, the P5, that I use in my home office with my Bartok/Rossini Clock exclusively for headphone use so those fans aren’t an issue as much.
While the fans are quiet when operating, they are not Noctua quite (PRC sourced) - audible in close proximity, and do turn on even when not under power delivery duress.

I would highly recommend a dedicated mains insulation starting at the meter.
I wrote a 3,000-word feature in issue 237 of hi-fi+ magazine (November 2024). It includes full-colour diagrams and was done in consultation with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). It describes exactly what I did in my house.
I remain delighted with the results. It’s a critical foundation regardless of what you may connect upstream.

Enure that any work carried out is in accordance with your local building/electricity code or regulations and is undertaken by properly qualified persons.
It is not so much that it may or may not meet your sonic expectations or could be dangerous. It is also because the validity of your home insurance may be affected.

For me, that would be very impractical. To achieve similar results I would likely buy a Stromtank.
They aren’t similar, there are significant differences in electrical characteristics (internal impedance/voltage stability, ability to satisfy instantaneous current demands, etc.) between power generated chemically at domestic scale and electro-mechanically on an industrial scale. Suggest a bit of further reading.
