UPnP Server not displaying files correctly in Mosaic

I’ve had an Eversolo T8 Streaming Transport for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been very good.

I have connected it to my Bartók by USB and AES with great results. The T8 performs as good as most of the Innuos Streamers.
One of our regular contributors  to our forum, suggested that I try the T8 as a UPnP server in Mosaic over LAN.
The T8 shows up instantly as a UPnP Server in Mosaic.:+1: However, when I click on Artist, or Album Artist it only displays Artists A-C. and Artists C-A, again and again. The same Artists from A-C were shown four times!
For some strange reason, Artists D-Z were not displayed.
Also, I got that dreaded red popup, ‘Failed to Start Playback’. when I attempted to play one of the A-C Artists.
I can’t think of anything else to try in order to get Artists D-Z to show in Mosaic?

Using the T8 purely as a Streaming Transport works flawlessly using their Eversolo Control app, displaying Artist and Album Artwork from A-Z.

It is noted, that dCS recommend MinimServer as a UPnP Server, which by the way, works flawlessly with Minim on my iMac. I can only think that my Bartók just doesn’t like the T8 as a UPnP Server?
I’ve re scanned the files in the T8 and all looks good in their Files Folder. The T8 is bang up to date with software, as is Mosaic.
It’s not a deal breaker, not using the T8 as a UPnP, I just thought it could have been another string to my bow.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

The main reason why dCS supports only MinimServer is that its interpretation of the UPnP protocol is consistent. Unfortunately the protocol has been written loosely in some aspects thus allowing commands from e.g. Mosaic to result in unexpected results with some equipment. I imagine that may be what is happening here.

AFAIK there is no means of loading any third party UPnP server software to T8 which suggests that it is incompatible your context and that there is little that you can do about it.

I appreciate that this may be a sore subject with you but Melco/DELA units in the UK can either come fitted with MinimServer or it may be retro-fitted later.

Being unable to select your local file storage is a serious issue and other UPnP solutions such as a dedicated NAS servers or ( as you have found) using your computer as NAS with MinimServer should solve the issue. I believe that Asset may also work.

That leaves the T8 as only usable for streaming services. How does that sound in comparison with Bartok itself?

David, as mentioned in PM, the T8 UPnP Server implementation is known to be buggy. Other non-dCS Users are complaining about exactly the same symptoms you’re seeing.

This is not a dCS/Mosaic issue. Starting a thread here is not going to help.

I notice you’ve already posted on the Zidoo forum seeking assistance. Let’s hope the Eversolo folks come to your assistance.

The T8’s firmware is a right “dog’s breakfast”, yikes!!

Apparently, not impossible to Side Load on to Eversolo products, but a very good chance of frying and destroying the unit.

Yes it did Pete, and it worked very well.

Not really Pete. The Eversolo Control app is excellent and works flawlessly with all my stored music.
It was only the fact that ‘Someone’ on here suggested using LAN. Which meant using the Eversolo T8 as a UPnP server.

100% correct Anup, down to Eversolo. :+1:

At the time of posting, they hadn’t, which is why I gave it a try here. There are some very knowledgeable people on the dCS Community forum.
Now that I know it is a bug issue on the Eversolo, I think I can put this one to bed.
As I said previously, it’s definitely not a deal breaker, not being able to use the T8 as a UPnP server, as it works flawlessly using USB and SPDIF.
Thanks Anup:+1:
