The UK hi-fi Show 2024 Picture Coverage

Here is a link to Leo Yeh’s (MY-HIEND) typically comprehensive photo coverage of the weekend’s Ascot show.

For the dCS showcase head to page 19 for the Absolute Sounds suite where a good portion of the current product portfolio (including the first UK public showing of Varèse) was on static display and a Vivaldi full stack featured in both of the demonstration rooms. I expect there was more dCS gear in use in other rooms, I haven’t gone through the entire report yet. Pretty sure I spotted Phil and Rav in there somewhere.

If any forum members made it along please share your impressions!

You missed me. Easily done :grinning:

Sorry Mark! I was completely distracted by the stealth unveiling of the new wireless ACTUS connections on the Varèse DACs and clock!

It is rather distracting, I’ll give you that.

Now I see you!

…and I thought you only loved me for my Garrard 301! A bit surprised to see this sort of thing in 2024, but as the old man always said ”some things never go out of fashion” (he had a 301 too).

Ignoring the elephant in the room…

Seems cruel to display it with the Model V12 VA, I didn’t think they were available separately from the Model 60?

(Amazing facility the SME site, it’s very cool seeing the original model kits in their lobby that started them. Until I went there, I had no idea they were called Scale Model Engineering)

How do you tell a V12 from a V12 VA? They look the same to me unless I read the legend printed on the arm. Unfortunately I am unable to see this from the picture.

It’s the shape at the end of the wand where the headshell area is.

Here’s a V and VA next to each other.

Aside this, you need to check the markings

The taper is different too, the new ones have a ridge underneath but you’d never see that in a photo

(If ever there was a HiFi trivia pub quiz, Phil and I would be unstoppable)

Even as a happy dCS customer, Kat might be enough to convert me to going all analog.
