Maybe (not) related to The Next Generation, but the Dutch dCS distributor just now offers a demo dCS Vivaldi APEX Digital to Analogue Converter at 30% discount.
Will be interesting how much the upgrade will be, I cannot imagine the Bartok another 9K more expensive
That has been there for a while, saw that already I think in November (sorry that was not an Apex I saw)
That was not a APEX one, I have looked at it several times.
Yep, my bad
If I remember correctly they asked around 18K for the non Apex, I guess they ugraded that one now
The Apex one now costs Euro 31.850,00, so the upgrade would cost Euro 13.850 ! But with the price increase per 2023, you are probably right.
Yeah, “next generation” is a lofty claim if that’s what’s coming. We will find out!
The Bartok APEX? How on Earth could something that was released at half that price double in price so quickly? And isn’t this around the Rossini price? If true, the Bartok is no longer the gateway to dCS for many people.
that would costs more than Rossini?
Rossini Apex is around 33000€
means for 2k€ more you’ll get a Rossini (instead of Bartok)? …if so, no brainer…
These are just speculations. We have to wait a few days.
With all this speculation perhaps I could describe the product I would like dCS to announce. I would like to see a dCS version of the Grimm MU1. A high-end, no holds barred, streamer with local storage that will fit seamlessly into the dCS eco system. I’m not holding my breath though sadly.
No we were talking about the Vivaldi Apex for sale (Demo) at the dutch importer site, 31850,- euro
No, then I would have to sell my Innuos.
That’s a fair price for Vivaldi Apex.
Interesting. What if those are outputs, not inputs? Like the Upsampler.
Three might be all a consolidated box requires I suppose. And it’s what the Upsampler has, correct? Is that an Ethernet jack in the blurry background? Maybe my imagination. Would dCS consolidate the DAC and the Upsampler at the top of the line? Would a huge Upsampler upgrade merit this announcement?
Hmmm. That bit is interesting. There are many reasons why a dealer might sell a demo unit. Perhaps this was an upgraded Apex, not a brand new one? Or perhaps someone is clearing rack space.
Well that’s sort of my point really. Most of us have these ancillary products (Grimm, Innuos, Aurender, Lumina, etc, etc) connected to our dCS DACs. But this connection is less than optimal and doesn’t include linking clocks etc. This seems like a dCS product ‘gap’. What I’m contemplating is a unit like this specifically designed and optimised for the DCS eco system.
I totally agree.
