I have mentioned this in the past but I highly recommend the book by her and her writing partner, Dr Ogi Ogas:
This explains in layman’s terms how the brain works in how we perceive music and why we may have varying individual reactions to the same piece ( or,IMO by analogy, subjectively to different audio systems).
I found this of fundamental importance.
