Sonore optical rendu

I have used iFi wall warts with audible success in replacement for the supplied PS that came with some 3.5" USB HDDs when I was running PC based replay system where my music library was stored on an HDD. A very good product although the various specs ( voltage/power draw) that they make do not cover all needs. But if they do make one that suits then go ahead ( I cannot guarantee success of course but it is a good risk).

I’d agree with Greg, don’t drive yourself crazy over this, especially considering it’s a Power Supply for a Ethernet Media Converter! This isn’t about a PSU powering an analog component thats in the audio path or even USB.

Just get whichever PSU you’ve read about that picks your fancy and let your Furman do it’s job

Thanks guys. Although I understand that it sounds like I’m making too much of a very small tweak, my perspective was actually otherwise. Especailly Anupc as you mentioned, ā€œit is a Power Supply for a Ethernet Media Converterā€, not for something vital like an actual front-end component.

Anupc and Pete you both have provided super information in this thread. And Anupc, never having had a switch that had SFP ports, I didn’t have a clue that my Ubiquiti switch didn’t have SFP modules installed in its ports. So, that bit of information you supplied, was more important to me than the PS. It goes without saying that without something to plug a fiber into, the PS for a downstream module has little relevance!

Hi all

After some advice I have the below in my setup

NBN Broadband from the wall to a SoTM Network Switch, I run optical out of the switch to my Roon Core (both the switch and Roon Core are located on the opposite side of my room - well away from my rack)

I am wondering if I should run my NAS located in the same area as Optical up to the SotM switch - its currently plugged in via Ethernet, would this bring any improvment?

On my Rack side I have a Bonn 8 Silent Angel switch that carries Ethernet into both my Bartok and Hegel Amp, would I see any improvement by running a Optical Module here?
