 the UI unit is actually meant to go on one of the separate mounted-shelves just above the rack (top half of the cabinet space not shown in the pic which currently houses the rest of my kit, like the Trinnov, dCS Network Bridge, dCS 905, Tascam Recorder, Router, Switch etc.), but my Symposium Svelte for that hasn’t arrived yet. So temporarily the UI unit functions as my Transport damper.

That was my initial thought as well, but when music is playing and I’m elsewhere in the house, the bass thump feels quite different and deeper. So, it definitely doesn’t seem just psychoacoustic. I also didn’t notice it on day1, only after a day or so of having left the system completely on (not even on Standby), but with the UI display turned off.

Not sure when I’ll get to it, so please don’t hold your breadth :face_with_peeking_eye:

Won’t be able to afford it!

Fortunately I won’t have to actually; the floor’s marble on concrete that’s deader than my audio rack in fact. If I had the space, they’d all be in the floor, the Mono DACs may well get there in future; if I eventually move them next to my speakers - the error-corrected nature of the ACTUS interconnect makes it very attractive to eliminate the long (lossy) analog interconnect I now have between the DACs and my Amp.

Dunc’s right actually, it’s on the floor, but on Herbie isolation feet.

Well blow me down! Is that a Rose 130 sitting on the top?

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Nop David, that’s the Varèse UI module…

See, “size matters” and so is width alignment!

Kind of regret your move towards a skinny/tiny Eversolo T8 with AES quirks already? (Just kidding here :winking_face_with_tongue::wink:)

Cheers.

Matrix Audio TS-1? :joy:

I guess that the day dCS produce a higher end product than the Varese, the upgrade cannot be hardware, neither software, but human. A true psychologist, will be available full time, night and day. At the age of AI everywhere, this upgrade will be a strong selling point :face_with_peeking_eye::wink:

Very nice too Erwan :+1:

One dream setup which is going most probably to stay just a dream. It just requires too much space and too much money as well. :sob:

But well, I can’t really complain about my setup (Vivaldi One + Clock).

I recently reorganised my office /listening room to experiment with a new layout. The room is around 8m by 3m with a slopped triangular ceiling. Previously the setup was a near-field arrangement, sitting just 1.7m from the speakers with the Naim rack positioned in between along the long wall.

I decided to move the speakers to the short wall and retreat further back into the room partly to address a comment on the forum concerning my Stenheim speakers being the wrong way round. . The initial results were underwhelming; I placed an ottoman between the speakers, which killed the clarity and introduced some boom resonance ( due to the room constraints ) .

While troubleshooting, I noticed a wobbly column to my amp rack ( an old Hifi Racks Ltd oak rack ). This led to a little reorganising - I removed the offending column / shelf and, for fun, repurposed a flatbed trolley from the basement to support the power amp with a dash of cosmetic improvement . I also moved the preamp and network switch off the Naim rack and onto the now shorter and more sturdy Hifi Racks rack in the corner .
Now sitting in the middle of the room nearly 3m back , the soundstage has opened up beautifully. The image is far more holographic, and there’s a delicate level of detail “floating in the air” that I simply wasn’t getting before.
I am so delighted with the performance of this improvised “trolley rack” that I’m now planning to remove the Naim Fraim Lite entirely ( even though I’ve always liked the look of it ).

Confess - I’m the guilty party:wink:
Glad to hear things are sounding great. I definitely love my 5SE’s

I think you will see an additional improvement once the Naim rack disappears. At least your Lite version is better than my full weight version was. Mine, as you know, had glass shelves. Good with my old Naim gear - bad with everything else.

A shame as they are beautiful racks.
I’m quite happy now that my Fraim was replaced with HRS

Been a while since I posted - Moved from Alexia II to Alexx V… which is truly next level, and somewhat of an endgame for the next ten years. Other changes are speaker wire to Odin 2… rest of the cables are full loom of Valhalla 2.

Lovely

Something nice to sit it all on next maybe? Certainly un stack the vivaldi boxes.

I would also suggest removing the black table. Bear in mind the sound bouncing off it. Of course the convenience of the table might be more important to you but try its removal.

Wow…The Wilsons, a seriously heavy piece of kit!

500 lbs each (226.80 kg) I thought my Titan 606’s and Vitus amp at 37kg each were heavy!
