Quite right. I experimented by removing the power cable and was rewarded with the best jet black background I have heard.

Why is it that all these cable believers never ever conduct a double blind test? I think they’re afraid to face the truth that there is no difference, and admit that they wasted their money. They’re convinced they can hear a difference. It’s so easy to conduct this test if you have a wife or friend. Do it and show your results!
Does that not also apply to non-believers and have you done so?
Don’t deflect. Do the test!
I a/b everything that has gone into my system. The most expensive does not always win.
The goal is always the same, does product A get me closer to the sound I am looking for than product B.
speaker cables, power cords and interconnects are simple to compare with mono blocks. Put one of each on the device and play a mono recording and switch back and forth. Easy to compare.
Hopefully good news for Naim, as they have certainly been struggling the last few years.
Hopefully they will get more investment now, better software department, etc. Hope the main core stays and doesn’t get broken up, plus the staff.
Maybe they will shift more into the home cinema and professional area along with Focal? But only time will tell, but hopefully they will get more R&D money and be able to bring out new and better gear in the 2 channel domain as they certainly need that with their current range of stuff.
But obviously the take over has been going on behind the scenes for quite a while and this probably has all to do with how Naim has been operating lately, cutting the fat and trying to look more ship shape, etc. But as said only time will tell, but can’t see much happening for a while after the take over unless the new owners really go for it, and either let them go, or thrown money and people into Naim.
A/B is still susceptible to expectation bias since you know which cable is which. Double blind is the only way to know. If you can’t pick the superior choice at least 8 of out 10 times, then the difference isn’t as clear as you thought.
At times there will not be any discernible differences between two devices. In other instances they will be readily apparent. If you don’t know whether a product is getting you closer to what you want to hear, maybe choose a different hobby.
Who cares if there is expectation bias. Why some individuals in this hobby believe you must choose without knowing which item is being played is nuts. When I go into a restaurant I don’t have to unaware of what I am eating to determine whether I like it or not. When I go into a museum I know whether I like an object or not. When I choose a new car I don’t go in unaware of what I am test driving.
Hi
Can you please share the cable brand ? It is not that easy to find a solid core cable , since most of the brands are using multi wires , they claim that it increases the cable surface area.
I’m using Shunyata digital on my DAC.

Dear Eyal,
The Showing (off) your dCS setup thread is my favorite part of this forum. Discussion of ethernet cables is my least favorite part. I understand that your interest in them is genuine, but there are ethernet threads elsewhere on this forum. Please post to them and leave this thread for those of us who are interested in other people’s systems and how they are set up.
Respectfully,
Roger
Definitely not trying to cause a “kerfuffle” : ) and I believe there is an Expectation Bias thread around here somewhere where this should be posted, just “adjusting” this example slightly to align with the logic of expectation bias and double-blind testing:
The above is certainly true, but if, for example, a restaurant were offering you a $100 steak and a $10,000 steak, it would be perfectly reasonable (restaurant permitting) to request a blind taste of each to remove expectation bias before deciding which one is “best” and deciding if the price difference were “worth it.”
Please, as @rshillas stated above, stay on-topic ![]()
Popped in to look at other people’s systems…caught up on another cable debate amongst believers and non believers…with similarly polarised views as to how it’s acceptable to talk to other people with opinions and experiences different to their own. Cool.
I too enjoy this thread purely for the pictures.
I will contribute again a picture when I have dusted.
August, I only just caught this. Are you leaving the dCS family for the Thrax Ares?
don’t show my wife….
No, we are listing our house for sale and this is what I could muster as the look of relative normality. In the new house I will have more room for hifi ![]()
So is the Vivaldi just packed up and awaiting the new lodging - or is it being replaced?
