This is how it was till a couple of weeks ago, then I brought my Bartók to my dealer to have him send it to dCS for servicing, due to the “locking up” bug I was experiencing. In the meantime, my dealer offered me an interesting trade-in to get a new Rossini Apex Player. Almost as a joke, I mentioned about the legendary Vivaldi One one-box solution, and he replied me that it could have been possible to still find some around. I just thought he was kidding, these things are long gone, but he wasn’t, he was able to find one like new Demo, Apex-upgraded unit from a shop. At the end, this saturday I’ll go to collect that one and he’ll keep the Bartók once it gets back from dCS.
I know it’s not like the four boxes Vivaldi, let alone the Varèse, but economical considerations aside I’ve no place for such beasts. In fact, my dealer told me that several potential Varèse buyers were put off by the required space. I may decide to add a clock in the future, but as of now I’ll stay like this.
Time to let that T+A unit go, it served me well since 2013 but time has passed, tech has gone forwards and it has been left behind on several aspects. It still sounds great, but no DSD, no SACD, no streaming services support (mconnect isn’t ideal).
Edit: in fact, I said “this is how it was till a couple of weeks ago”, not completely true, this image is quite old. The Abyss AB1266 (box at the bottom) has been superseeded by a Raal Immanis, recently upgraded to the silver set. I expect such an headphone to be able to fully profit from Vivaldi’s improved performance.
That’s the Zähl HM1’s power supply.
At the bottom I just put the Immanis box to not leave it empty and hide the cable stuff behind
Perhaps one day should I decide to add the Vivaldi clock. (that would most probably go to the other suspended shelf)
I do like the look of the vivaldi one, I remember the first time I saw it at hifi lounge, I just stood in front of it and thought i want. I had a rossini player at the time.
Fantastic all in one box solution. So how about making a new version with storage built in, roon core maybe as well and lose the transport???
That’s going to be one big box. But take the vivaldi one box, and the space taken up by the transport once removed should leave enough for a hard drive instead. Then as said maybe add the roon core, so it ticks all the boxes i can see any streamer owner will want.
My 2 cents…they’re working on either new network bridge/streamer (with graphical display) or a dedicated roon system or a flexible network/IO- board for external connections
Interesting price, especially should it include the german VAT (I suppose it does). I paid a bit more for mine (Sfr. 70’000.-, incl. swiss 8.1% VAT, exkl. the Bartók trade in).
That would end up at about Sfr. 60’500.- considering our VAT and the current eur/chf exchange rate. Quite a difference!
But had I ordered it from them, I don’t know how it would have been with the warranty.
Having got mine from the official swiss distributor, I was given full 2 years warranty and I’m sure there won’t be any issues tied to getting it from outside my country.
It’s late anyways, this one will have another proud owner.
