Showing (off) your dCS setup - description and photos

Thank you Sir – appreciated your comments. I never thought in my wildest dreams after 55 + years in this hobby, I’d have gear such as I do.

I will take the opportunity and say this after having an Nordost Odin 2 Digital on the dCS Transport to DAC – don’t try any ODIN 2’s anywhere. Nordosts’ claims and comments from those who have ventured into Odin 2 territory are absolutely correct – it is a HUGE improvement from the 1’s. How they do what they do is incomprehensible.

Best Sir,

Bob

Added the new Krell KSA i400 - factory fresh and installed today. In a word, WOW! It’s only a few hours old and bigger soundstage, bass is exquisite and highs are crystal clear. Excited to see how it develops as it breaks in

Hi all,

New member here. Used to be a full Naim acolyte a few years ago, but go fed up with the system’s ability to ever change with atmospheric conditions and I could never quite get the mains clean enough at my old house.

Now my system is relatively simple and modest, and does the job perfectly for me

Welcome to the forum Mark – and as you state “does the job perfectly for me” – isn’t that what we all strive for Sir. Congrats on that achievement & beautiful & clean appearance. :+1:

Best to you,

Welcome to the community. I hope that you will find our contributions interesting and useful.

Congratulations on that almost completely British system. Mostly familiar to me as I use ATC 50ASLs and have an SCA2 though it is currently not my main preamp.I have those Beatles albums too .

May I make a small suggestion? Try not to stack the preamp on top of the Bartok. You will be suffering from a degree of EMI which will be audible. You will find that all dCS user manuals for their multi-box systems have caveats against stacking. I know that we all have to make compromises but this is one that I would go out of my way to avoid. Perhaps moving the lamp and phonostage might give enough room to try? Or perhaps separating them some other way?

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum; great to see another bartok/scm40a user here.

Nordost Gold is an even bigger improvement. Leaves OD2 far behind. OD2! Gold however is unaffordable.

What to do? I followed Nordost advice: I swapped the inlet OD2 power cord that connects the whole system to AC for a Gold one. Dramatic improvement. One power cord in an otherwise all OD2 loom!

I swapped my OD2 phono cable for Gold.
I swapped my OD2 analogue interconnects for Gold.

Ça suffit: I cannot afford any other upgrades.
