Cool setup- I didn’t understand why do you have 2 Nagra amps? Do you use them in bi-amping??

I keep both so that I can enjoy the power and resolution of Classic INT and the magical sound of 300B.

got it  do you use a sub with the A1?

No, I am not a bass head and bass of A1 from the Bartok with the Nagra is satisfying to me.

The all black stack looks awesome

just wondering–in a tight spot can the Rossini dac /clock /and transport be positioned on top of each other?? Desperate for space. i see photos of them this way but wonder if it’s just for art.
Thanks
mike garver

Yes they can. It is not ideal ( see the User Manual as this recommends using on separate shelves). However stacking may be used " If absolutely necessary". Nevertheless this may result in a loss of sound quality. I believe the issue is mutual EMI interference .

So you can do this but there may be a penalty. Only you can judge if it is acceptable. BTW, I would place Rossini Transport at the bottom - it weighs a ton.

I tried a couple of times with an Elgar series combination and with Paganini. For me it was an experiment only and I quickly reverted to individual shelves which is the current situation with Rossini Transport/Vivaldi DAC/Upsampler/Wordclock.

I totally agree with Pete.

If you’re short on space I wouldn’t let it stop you though — when I stacked a Clock and DAC the result was still markedly better than without a Clock. Does look cool, too :+1:

(I didn’t have a Transport, but the weight figures support @PAR here.)

These systems are incredible. My system below. Alexia II, bartok, krell evo 202 pre and recapped Krell FPB 300. All Valhalla v2. Mulling D’agostino momentum pre and s250 or m400… but feel like I’m near the apex. Suggestions welcome!

Get the APEX, you will not regret it. Trust me I got Bartók APEX and love it.

Awesome and such clean set up. Agree with the previous comment - upgrade Bartok to APEX (of you haven’t already). With your D’Agostino comment – can’t go wrong with any of his matching amps/preamps - in your case, swap out the 2 Krell’s with the 2 D’Agostino’s (S250 w/HD pre) keeping the same clean appearance. Amplification would be similar going down to 2 ohms where the Alexia’s hang sometimes (300/6001200 now verses 250/500/1000 D’Agostino).

Beautiful Sir,

Bob

(Since you can’t see my equip profile - D’Agostino Progression monos - 1st issue w/Progression pre pushing Alexia (V1’s). dCS Rossini 3 stack, SME Rig, VAC Phono pre. Trading in D’Agostino’s & going back to my tube roots next week with VAC 450iQ monos/VAC Master Pre sitting on HRS shelves/G-Feet & G-Links. All wiring Nordost Odin V1 & V2).

Thank you Robert- Agreed with everything.

How did you like the Progressions with the Wilsons?

I have also been considering the Progression stereo amp, but it’s not much more for the s250. I have only heard the m400s with these speakers and it was epic - but so many variables hard to judge.

Also on the Bartok Apex upgrade… I was thinking might just move into the Rossini instead…

I upgraded from Krell FPB-300 (recapped 9 years ago) to D’Agostino S350 and later Apex’d my Bartok. The S350 was a bigger jump in performance, but I did it first. The Apex was nice too.

Interesting, Is that the progression s350?

Yes, I have Progression amp and pre-amp.

PM inbound to you Sir,

Bob

Loving my new Gryphon electronics together with dCS Vivaldi

Very nice, Franco.

Which Gryphon amp is that in the foreground?
Presumably, you traded in your Essence mono blocks…?

Do you still have your Pandora pre?

Thanks Jonathan. That’s correct. I’ve recently traded my Essence Mono amps for a Mephisto Stereo (the one that you see in the middle) and my Pandora preamp for a Commander (the two units that you see at the bottom of the rack). I was expecting a big difference in SQ but not as much as this! They have elevated the sound and performance of the whole system to a new different level. It’s another planet.
