Rewiring your home

Fellow forum members,
A member of the MSB forum posted this extensive guide to rewiring/reconfiguring power in your home for audiophile systems. I thought it might be of interest to some members here. This is not my work and I have no opinion on the paper (as of yet).
Cheers,
Richard

this is simply to mention that dCS forum members reside in many countries around the world. Various countries have differing electrical power systems, electrical codes and legal requirements.

The linked article appears to relate to N.America and is not universally applicable. I would advise readers who do not live there to seek advice relevant to their own territory.

Look to be the same as what he posted on MSB’s Website FAQ section from a couple of years ago;

For the UK a mains wiring guide can be found here at the Russ Andrews site. This article (nowadays) is very slanted to buying from Russ Andrews but does explain the ‘very British’ methods of using ring circuits as opposed to the more common radial topologies. Here the methodology suggests the use of 4.0mm (squared) Twin & Earth (roughly 12AWG) instead of the 2.5mm T&E cable normally used. I have Kimber Kable installed (approx 6mm) as a ring main which utilises twisted cables. This similiar/same cable is frequently used for Kimber Kable power cords. The current cost to wire a dedicated HIFI circuit in Kimber Kable is high for the standard cable and astromical for the superior cable.
