We have released a new firmware update for the dCS Varèse Music System, along with an updated version of the Mosaic ACTUS app. This firmware updates security certificates on the Varèse system to ensure continued operation.
If this update is not manually installed onto a Varèse system before 30th March 2026, the Varèse system will attempt to automatically update itself to firmware v1.0.17. This will happen when the unit is powered on and connected to the internet, and will take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete.
The Core initially downloads the firmware files from the internet. It updates its own firmware first, then sends the update out to the other Varèse components currently connected to it.
The update is shown as in process when the front panel LED on a unit is flashing magenta. Do not power any of the Varèse units off while any of the LEDs are flashing magenta.
Once the full system has been updated, the Core, Mono DACs and Master Clock front panel LEDs will all be solid white.
If the system has not been manually updated and has not been able to automatically update before 5th April 2026, the Mosaic ACTUS app will not be able to connect to the Varèse system, and the Varèse User Interface display will be blank. Updating the Varèse system, either manually or via the automatic update functionality, will resolve both of these issues.
