New to dCS. Lina DAC

@MMF

I ordered a pair of Geistnote’s Apogee Wyde Eye wordclock cables to try with the Rossini clock. I’m starting at the lower end and hopefully these will be good enough.

How interesting! I have another system with a (don’t laugh) Benchmark LA4 preamp and AHB2 power amp. Audiophiles deride them because they’re pro audio, so how can they be any good ? And they’re comparatively cheap. They sound great!

I have a vinyl setup as well, comprising a Linn LP12/Naim Aro/Linn Kandid with Linn Radikal power supply. I must confess, as my digital front end has gotten better, I’ve been using it less and less and I’ve been entertaining the idea of letting it go.

Good to hear from you, and let’s see where our journey takes us next.

Colin,

I couldn’t help but smile at the mention of your Benchmark LA4 and AHB2 combination; it’s a pairing I hold in high regard. Benchmark products have an elegance and precision that transcend the misleading boundaries between pro audio and audiophile gear.

Your Linn LP12 and Naim Aro setup paints a nostalgic picture. The tactile, almost ritualistic experience of vinyl has its own enchanting allure. Yet, I find myself nodding in agreement with your shift towards digital. The convenience, coupled with the remarkable strides in digital audio quality, makes it an increasingly compelling choice. When the right components come together, digital audio not only matches but can, in many instances, surpass the analog experience in clarity, detail, and overall musicality.

Your thoughts echo my sentiments precisely. As the digital frontier expands and refines, the allure to immerse more deeply is irresistible. Each progression in our setups, every nuanced enhancement, underscores the evolving narrative of our auditory journey.

Looking forward to continued insights and discoveries. Cheers to the next chapter in our sonic explorations!

Enjoy the Lina!! Doubt you will find better cables for the clock. I searched and found many Vivaldi owners use the same ones. What I have with the Lina clock

I bought a pair of Geistnote clock cables a few weeks ago, but I’m hard pressed to really hear the difference between them and the stock cables, to be honest. I’m reluctant to spend any more without demoing them in my system for a while.

I am very fortunate to have just purchased a dCS Lina dac from Quintessence Audio in Chicago. They were outstanding in helping me through my decision making process. Once into play, the Lina is a game changer in my modest system (just recently highlighted on dCS Facebook page). The sound stage is so much much deeper and wider. The detail of each instrument is astounding! I couldn’t be happier.
