Thank Erno,
any sign of a new dCS product for 2024? Guess one mentioned a new Vivaldi in August???
Lina stack taking quite the jump. Glad I bought it when I did lolz
Add it all up and it probably still be less than whatever the next model above Vivaldi will cost those fortunate few.
I am starting to wonder if we are not reaching a ceiling on uber priced components.
The brand new totl MSB Cascade comes in at under $100k
WADAX wants to sell to more than a few oligarchs and has priced their new box at $50k
The Chinese economy (one of the drivers of the uber high end in HiFi) is definitely not doing well - just look at LVMH etc. sales numbers)
There is definitely stiff competition at the top end and buyers will be looking at the above mentioned when contemplating their purchase
imho
Very glad I bought Rossini a few years ago. It would be impossible now…
When I bought the Vivaldi Dac the official pricelist was…28.000€ and then I bought the Vivaldi Upsampler when the pricelist was 20.000€ !!!
I hesitated buying the Vivaldi clock when it was 15.000€…I will certainly not buying one now…I may buy a second hand clock at 10.000€ when the successor of the Vivaldi will show up…
+1 Lina is now more than I paid for my Bartok
So true Jim – soon we’ll find out.
Best Sir,
Bob
I agree with the broader sentiment on this thread.
If AI starts delivering vastly better filters/DSP for the software DACs, we could see some very interesting developments…
Hong Kong distributor retail list prices. No VAT or sales taxes in HK. Varèse not listed here, it’s HKD2.15m.
For reference, these were the HK retail prices in early 2020 when I bought my Vivaldi:
Transport V1: 262k HKD
DAC: 210k HKD
Upsampler: 125k HKD
Clock: 96,250 HKD
Interesting that it appears dCS has raised prices in all or parts of Asia and the EU.
I just checked several prominent dCS authorized dealers here in the US, no price changes as yet.
Hongkong really cheap. This is the Japan new price list from 1st July. Included 10% tax but very very expensive.
Which country ? Is this an Euro or Dollars ?
Belgium - Netherlands - Luxembourg, in Euro.
Japan is notorious for having pretty steep markups on imported gear. The flip side of that though is that they have great prices on Japanese gear like Accuphase or Esoteric. When I lived there I didn’t even bother looking at stuff from the US or Europe and enjoyed exploring all the domestic stuff, especially tubes!
