And look what I just found: a new UK Patent Application by dCS:

thanks Erno- that means a special connection for all parts of the stackâŚsounds interesting but sounds as well as a closed loopâŚ
Exciting times for dCS and for audio enthusiasts â dCS must be shaking their heads in absolute amazement at the extent of audio sleuthing their clients possess. We, though are just Angels in disguise.
Best to all,
Bob
If the name is Mahler and the communication between the boxes is cablelessâŚI do think that dCS must exchange my Vivaldi for a free Mahler
Looks like thereâs a Lina on top of the stack, so a half-width form factor? Then 6 box is still 3 box of full width
Yes, a free one for all regular contributors to the forum . Oops, no room for it .
letâs count to sixâŚ
- dac
- clock?
- upsampler?
- psu?
- psu?
whatâs 6.? a âhubâ or âswitchâ to connect all the pieces?
My guess:
- psu (is this like a stromtank??)
- psu (is this like a stromtank??)
- clock
- transport
- dac (left)
- dac (right)
All proprietary cabling â only client cabling upgrade is to the PSUâs (??)
Best to all
Bob
Or could it be the new DAC and the whole front panel is a large display?? The half-width idea is very interesting though, using the same flex-rigid circuit board as the Lina to be more space-efficient. That would make a lot of senseâŚ
This would be a very interesting proposition. Factor in the possibility of taking one from the Naim playbook of upgrading with external power supplies, and perhaps this new product is fully functional with 3 half width boxes, with the possibility of upgrading with additional external power supplies at the time the customer so chooses.
Naimâs power supply orgy was the #1 reason why I left the brand!
ND555+PSU
NAC252+PSU
NAP300+PSU
Phono+PSU

Let me guessâŚ
CD/SACDTransport ;
Upsampler (Stream, namely digital transport, and local SSD library );
Mono DAC ( Left ,Right);
PSU (maybe compatible with Upsampler)
Clock
I suspect you are right - fullwidth panel display with design queues from the Lina
Thatâs my guess.
If you compare the unit at the top of the stack with the Lina DAC you see it has a thinner bezel relative the size of the display and a wide recess between the rear edge of that bezel and the rest of the chassis, which seems to reflect the design language of the boxes below it.

My hopes are getting raised for a low profile system. Now, as long as it remains more or less at the Vivaldi price pointđ
j Judging from the images released do far it looks like your hopes are not going to be realised. It isnât a replacement for Vivaldi AFAIK and is 6 not 3 (or 4) boxes. It is a model at a size and price point above Vivaldi.So I doubt if it will be the same price. Anyway we neednât speculate too much as the truth is only 36 or so hours away.
NB: I am very impressed with what looks to be a partial solution for the large number of interconnects otherwise required. A unique and patented wireless system.
THE ULTIMATE dCS SYSTEM
At the ultimate price.
With the Chinese economy having significant problems, and Stock markets the same, I guess the chips will fall where they may.
Then again if dCS, being the small company they are, has limited production capabilities, it might not matter much. Two or three units per month may be all they need.
Time to wait for the trickle down effect on the rest of the lineup.
