Yup.
We don’t have to wait much longer to find out about whatever this new ‘6 box’ system comprises…

YES, I found an image.
Anyone else think they can read “Mahler” (which makes sense) or “Wagner” (which makes less sense) on this label?
Anybody who will be upgrading please sell me your now outdated and inferior Vivaldi upsampler and clock (silver please)
Well - as an owner of a Rossini APEX + Clock - and the former owner of multi box Naim 500 system - I am no longer interested in a multitude of boxes and cabling. I downsized from my Naim black box setup to a DarTZeel amplifier and preamplifier and will most likely remain with my 2 box Rossini setup. A 3 box Vivaldi + a multitude of cables was already too many boxes for me. I would have loved to see a new Vivaldi level DAC with incorporated streamer as in the Rossini.
I will be curious to see comparisons of the soon to be shipping WADAX all in one (although I do not like the fact there is a mechanical spinner inside) and MSB Cascade vs. my Rossini and the current Vivaldi.
But I want 7 boxes!
If you were my height you’d need another box to stand on to reach the top of the stack .
As owner of ”A 3-box Vivaldi + a multitude of cables” I would have to agree! But I love the music it makes…
I’m just looking forward to the reveal. Finding out the name of the new line, which of our guesses were spot on and which were off, and eventually getting to listen, at a show, a dealer, or a friend’s place.
Probably completely out of my reach but who cares? I am super excited regardless!
That’s some bad photoshop there mate
Oh, that will be interesting.
If dCS announces some new “breakthroughs” in the music server category I may sell my beloved Rossini out of principle (!) ; )
Breaking through small pox?
Could not find it on their preloved list yet.
In dCS’s 2023 annual report filed at Companies House in April of this year they have opted not to provide a P&L statement under an exemption granted to small companies so there is no public record of their turnover. As such any figures published by companies like Zoominfo, D&B etc. are likely to be educated guesses derived from models.
However the small companies regime applies to companies that have any two of the following:
…so the $7M (£5.5M) figure is in the right ballpark. It would also rhyme with the other figures published in the filing. So, bottom line, yes, dCS is indeed a small company.
6 boxes !!! Ok, if it is 6 boxes without cables for communication between the 6 boxes, then I would admit it is a breakthrough, a 21 century innovative breakthrough.
But if it is 2 more boxes with a bunch of additional cables, then I would say it should better be a huge breakthrough in sound quality, otherwise the only benefit is that I can soon buy a second hand Vivaldi clock…
It also could be that 2 new boxes are being added to the existing 4 Vivaldi boxes, making 6 boxes.
hohoho! that looks bold,indeed!
Thanks for that - good research and very informative.
To put it in perspective - and to head over to the “green room” (Naim forum) - here is some information gleamed from a controversial thread making it’s way over there.
UK £17.245MM = +27% (YoY)
Europe £10.7MM = -say3%
RoW £11.013MM = -35%
So Naim generated roughly £39MM.
I guess you are correct - dCS is an extremely small company when compared to Linn and Naim.
On the flip side compliments to them, as a small company their size is regarded to be at the vanguard of technical excellence for digital playback devices.
If not exactly literally this, that kind of architecture would suggest that it exists mostly to meet market needs in the region of its launch ( as others have already hinted).
So the really interesting aspect will be if there are any fundamental technical advances which may translate to other new products of more practical sizing and price points in the future.
I am looking forward to finding out from this weekend’s reports.
This is coming on the 7th August…
