On Sunday I gave a 2.5 hour presentation on best practices for setting up stereo systems. It’s obviously missing my talk track but I am hoping some members here might find it valuable.
Not sure I will check it out. I’m skeptical of audio forums. 99% is complete and utter bullsh!t.
Lol! I was excepting the dCS community of course. But you knew what I mean.
Perhaps 99% is too harsh. Maybe I should have been more conservative and said 80%.
The dCS has very informative and valuable to me even if @Anupc and I sometimes disagree.
A question for you Lee, why using two, even one, subwoofers when the loudspeakers are Wilson Audio speakers, which naturally generate lots of bass ? Is it really necessary or don’t you think it is a cultural difference between USA and Europe or Japan ?
Personally, every time I visit a hi-fi show, I think rooms with Wilson Audio loudspeakers (without subwoofers) are fun, but just for 10 min, too much bass, Vivid Audio the same. I could spend hours in rooms with Avalon or YG acoustics loudspeakers. So, a matter of taste or something measurable that leads to the use of subwoofers as a rule in hi-fi ?
I had to get to slide 29 to get this joke : )
@Lee ,
Thanks for taking the time to share this with the community!
One thing to consider is that subs also add low level cues and those cues contribute to a realism and more precise imaging.
I think it’s safe to say we disagree 99% of the time
I believe so.
it is what it is!
Well, perhaps 99% is too harsh. Maybe I should have been more conservative and said 80%.
In case you missed it, it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek
I would view it this way actually:
There are multiple individuals on the forum who share similar design and technical philosophies and who therefore agree with each other 75-90% of the time
It is just that there are several of these groups and they, respectively, disagree with each other 80% of the time!
this is a precision group with precise ideas
