Our key objective for this release was to make it quicker you for to get connected to your device and playback the music you love, it’s great to know that the discovery improvements have been well received.
Thanks also for the additional suggestions on features and improvements that you would like to see, we do hear you and have logged these so they can be considered for future updates as the new platform evolves.
My impression or USB stick content is accessed faster now? Previously, you had to wait a while to be able to start playing stuff. Or it may just be the ssd stick I tried this time.
First impressions of Mosaic 2.0 are good - I really like the ability to have Qobuz as my ‘default’ source. However, one gripe from v1 remains: would it really have been so difficult to have the Play Queue accurately show the running order of a ‘shuffled’ track list, rather than just hopping back & forth so you’ve no idea what might be up next? I understand that a random shuffle might be intended to ‘surprise’ the listener, but sometimes it’s nice to delete in advance any particular track that might not suit your mood - a facility I’ve long used with Roon.
I have only had a limited time with v,2 so far but I a pleased. The following issues raised in the forum anre now resolved ( I hope):
Mosaic no longer disconnects when other apps are opened simultaneity on your device ( with a delay when reconnecting). .
The “Play from Here” issue where selected tracks jump is resolved with a change that no longer requires the start rack election from a sub-menu. You can now start play directly from any track in the album’s track listing
Track metadata streaming can now be disabled. .To me this makes the whole upgrade worthwhile.
I expect there may be further improvements to be made in the future.
I notice that when I stop play and go back through the menus v.2 takes me back to the top of the artist list and not to the position in the artist list where I started if this makes sense. V.1 does not do this.
Using the old v.1.4.4 you load the chosen album to the Play list . (you press only the chevron in the blue Play lozenge). The play screen icon is at the bottom. Scroll to the track you want and select the three dots or lines to the right. You then see a blue “option Play from Here”’
THe new mosaic 2.0 is much simpler. Choose the album, then simply select the track you want to to play from from the track list. That’s all .
I never got on with Mosaic 1.0 much preferring Roon. With 2.0 thought I should revisit. Love the speed and ease of accessing my Vivaldi Upsampler and Lina DAC. However it keeps losing my Melco N1 on which all my music files are stored. Had to reboot the N1 twice over the last two days in order to regain access. Additionally Mosaic only finds a subset of artists albums on the N1, JPlay is better but Roon best of the three. Finally in the play screen touching the loudspeaker option shows does not mute the speakers although the icon has a dash across it.
System is a Melco S1 switch which the N1, Vivaldi Upsampler and Roon Nucleus are all connected too and output is digital AES to active Dutch & Dutch 8C speakers
I am a Melco N5 user and the N1 and 5 use the same software. For me everything is as it should be. not only using Mosaic v.2.0 but with its .4.4 4 predecessor.
Without knowing your system in detail I would guess that your issues spring from using the server software supplied with Melco and which is basically not fully compatible with Mosaic.
Mosaic supports different software;; MinimServer. Are you using this? I f so you should not have problems.
Minimerver is easily installed on the Melco servers and comes in a custom version. Instructions are on the MinimServer website. Download to a flash drive and transfer this this to Melco using one of the UMelco SB ports. See also the Nelco manual.
AS there is no MinimServer in Japanese language Melco/DELA continue without it. However UK Melco customers should already find it available via the N1’s front panel menu. If not it can be added as above
I’m using the s100 switch into the n1s38 and then to the Rossini via the player port connection . Mosaic v2 is very snappy and I’ve not had any dropouts.
N1 was set to Twonky so reset to Minim. However now shows only 263 albums vs 10 times that on JPlay. Maybe thw wrong version of Minim so will try the download route you suggest
Absolutely/ You may switch to a pre-installed or new MinimServer but until your library is scanned it may be empty. You will find the rescan option in the Melco front panel menu.
