Maverick hifi show

Hi all
Once again i will be attending the show and taking part of my system.
It would be great to see members from here visit the show or even better join in and have a room, and show off the great sounds we enjoy at home to others.
I know that from last year, many visitors had never heard their favourite sound sound as good. Plus i know of atleast 3 people that actually went out and bought into dCS after hearing what it sounded like at the show.
So it would be lovely to see a few of you supporting this very unique hifi show and popping by to say hi.

Hopefully we might get a better room this year and put on an even better sounding room, plus we have a few thing’s we are going to do if we get the bigger room.

Cheers dunc

Not local to me, but I do want to say how great it is of you to share your system in this way.

Well someone has got to show all these wanna be hifi guys how it should be done.
Only joking obviously as its a great fun weekend with all sorts of very interesting systems to enjoy.
Certainly worth popping along to if you can as i am certain it won’t be your last.

Will be finding out what room we will be getting very shortly.
Hoping for a bigger room to better show the system off, plus more people will be able to enjoy it, hopefully.
But if i get a small room again, then we might do something different, and do a tape only room. 2 reel to reel machines instead.
But will update as soon as i get the info on rooms.

Your room did indeed sound amazing last year, Dunc. Of course those of us inside the dCS tent are hardly surprised…

Unfortunately I can’t be there as planned. My son’s wedding has shuffled itself from Sept to Oct so I’m out; gutted, naturally (not about the wedding…)

Have a fabulous show.

Well we have a similar size room to last year.
So with that we might take a much different system. For a few reasons really.

Was hoping for a bigger room to better show the system, plus it would have given many more people the opportunity to hear it better.
So might take a much smaller system this year, no dCS, no big speakers.
Do a tape only room, 2 reel to reels, my amp and smaller bookshelf speapers.

Nothing is finalised as yet, so will see

Just over a month to go. So if you can find the time, then pop along, as you will definitely enjoy yourself

Great update.

We have been given a bigger room to show in, this means we will now be taking the vivaldi stack. So basically the same system as last year, plus my cheap cd transport.

If i can fit it all in, I will also take the rack.

So pop up if you can, as we will even have a nice sofa on the front row to drift away in. Last year was great, this year and the bigger room is going to be epic.

Fantastic news @Dunc , I wish I could be there to experience this. Alas, not this year.

Have a great show weekend,

Less than 2 weeks to go now.

Getting excited about doing it all again, but in a bigger room. Hopefully I might get to see someone from here on the day. But come say hello if you go.

Room 135, on the 1st floor, right at the end of the corridor.

It’s sounding much better in this room compared to last year.

Hopefully doing dCS justice this year much more. I think people are really going to like this.

Looking great, Dunc. Bet it’s sounding it too! Would love to attend one day.

I’m feeling very tyred after the last few days.

The system sounded absolutely fantastic in the big room, in some ways better than when it’s at home.

The depths, width, and the way it just filled the room was amazing, really, even for its owner.

We once again played anything, and one guy was so overcome that he was almost crying. He obviously had settlemental attachment to the track, and hearing it today was almost too much for him.

I am sure everyone enjoyed it and something in the room for over an hour and many came back time and time again. No sure if that going to make the dCS phone ring tomorrow for orders, but it has certainly shown what fantastic digital can do.

Cheers dunc

Ps hats off to dCS for donating quite a few wonderful cd’s in a nice box, unfortunately I never got to hear one, but most sold on the Saturday night and the few left went into the raffle.

I believe we reached the ÂŁ10000 mark for the hospice charity, which is a great result.

A few remarks that I have spotted about the system popping up.

Dunc with his Kudos 808s, DCS front end and Vitus amp… make no mistake, if I magically become a millionaire somehow, I’d buy this myself. It’s hard to describe the sound of this system other than to say that the system gets out of the way of the music and you’re just enveloped in sound.

Another one

It’s a really special system. I’ve heard a lot of high end systems and thought “yes it’s nice, but how much??”, but with that system I just think “yes, I get it, I’d do the same if I could”.

Also, just to add, the effort you go to to move that system is admirable… I’m not a stranger to moving very heavy and large kit around as a sound engineer (I need roadies now being in my condition but still)… the difference is, my kit is designed to be thrown around and speaker cabs can be easily touched up with black tough cab… that’s not the case with yours, moving those without damaging them is a massive task.

Plus this one

My personal choice that kept my ears very happy was the room with the reel to reel machine playing a Yello tape at 15 IPS , I think it was Dunc / Duncans room ?

So nice to read about people enjoying the system, we got nice remarks on the day as well, but it’s nice to see people enjoyed it
