Mains conditioner and solar, etc

Hi all.

Last November I installed 19 solar panels, 2 x 11kw batteries and a 10kw inverter to my house.

It’s been fantastic and we are generating loads of free electricity each day. So much so we have running the car for free since April and the house. But the last few weeks I have also been running the hot tub and the last week the air conditioning as well, all for free. That’s great I know, but i feel it has slightly effected my hifi. I feel it’s just a bit flatter than it was. Maybe it’s the hot tube, or air conditioning and obviously i can switch them off to see. Or maybe its the inverter on the solar system, and pulling say 8kw through it is causing the issue as we haven’t really pulled this much though it constantly like we are doing now.

But my question is this, mains conditioner, would this help maybe and may using one on the dCS kit at all? I have never felt the need to look at this as I did have a balanced supply running my hifi but unfortunately I had to remove it.

My personal experience is that a good power conditioner improves my Rossini sound as does high quality power cords.

Hi Duncan, I remembered this article/video from Michael Fremer about his problems with power.

Maybe it’s relevant to you problem, although a little different. Hope it helps :slightly_smiling_face: (read footnote 1, in the article)

I have found the culprit its my upstairs air conditioner. It’s a portable unit unlike the fixed 2 box unit on the ground floor.

When its on its doing nasty stuff back into my mains and the hifi is on its own separate customer unit and twin supplies.

Might still look at a power conditioner but would like to get my balanced transformer back into my hifi system.
