Well, I used it just for fun - it works as expected with the current system configuration. But given all the warnings here I have stopped using it and went back to the main port.

My SFP-Ethernet bridge can be set to 100mbps anyway so if I truly believed 100mbps sounds better than 1gbps I can force that with the default port. But frankly I hear no difference in this setup between forcing 100mbps or allowing 1gbps.

So long story short: I just went back to the default config using the normal (not Loop) port and 1gbps in the SFP bridge.
