Hi everyone,
We’re pleased to announce the General Availability release of v3.0 firmware for Bartók and Rossini.
First and foremost, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Early Access Programme. The response we received far exceeded our expectations, both in terms of the quantity and quality of feedback.
The Early Access Programme was the first time we’ve run a firmware programme like this, and it was fantastic to see so many owners actively engaging with the process. The feedback has directly helped inform the work that led to today’s release, and I know the engineering team appreciated the level of thought and care that went into many of the discussions.
What’s New in v3.0?
v3.0 introduces a wide range of new features and enhancements for Bartók and Rossini owners, including:
- Mappers 4 and 5
- DSDx4 playback support on USB-B input
- DSDx4 Upsampling for PCM content
- New PCM Filters for 48 / 88.2 / 96kS/s material
- PCM Peak Control
- Expanse 3
- Mute / unmute improvements
- Volume Lock
- Auto-standby to help reduce power consumption when units are not in use
Full release notes can be found at the bottom of this post.
While this update brings new FPGA firmware to the Bartók and Rossini, there is also a minor network firmware update for Network Bridge, Lina and Vivaldi, updating to network version 533. This lays the groundwork for compatibility with Mosaic 2 (more on that below).
For Owners of Other dCS Products
As I’m sure many of you will ask, v3.0 is now available for Bartók and Rossini. Development activities continue across our other products, however firmware development is platform-specific. There are a multitude of features in v3.0, and not all features are applicable to all product ranges, with each range requiring its own dedicated development, testing and validation. Lina, Vivaldi and Varèse will each receive their own v3.0 updates, and we will share more information as each product-specific release progresses.
I appreciate that some owners are keen to understand how v3.0 applies beyond Bartók and Rossini, so I want to reassure you that all current dCS products remain an important part of our ongoing development roadmap, including Lina, Vivaldi and Varèse.
Mosaic 2
Separately, we’re also continuing work on Mosaic 2, a major update to the Mosaic experience that will support Network Bridge, Lina, Bartók, Rossini and Vivaldi products.
We’ll have more to share on that in the near future, but Mosaic 2 represents a significant project in its own right and will be communicated separately from this firmware release.
Updating Your Product
v3.0 is available now for Bartók & Rossini owners through the normal update process. In the Mosaic app, open the Menu and navigate to Support > Versions > Check For Updates.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask here on the Community and we’ll do our best to help.
Thank you again to everyone who participated in Early Access, and to all of you for your continued support of dCS.
We hope you enjoy v3.0.
