For two days now I’ve been streaming Qobuz on a trial period. But, I’ve just started to get dropouts and Mosaic is constantly losing the connection with the Bartók. I have read dozens of posts on why this can happen, some of which are too complicated for me to understand!
Internet connection is solid with 60 Mbps. Mosaic has been solid using Roon Nucleus (now gone).
I am using a cheap £20 TPLink Switch. could this be causing more harm than good?
I’ve removed the Switch, with the router connected directly to the Bartók. Things stable at the moment.
I’m still waiting the arrival of my Melco N5. Hopefully it’ll arrive tomorrow. (I said that last week! ) Because of way the Melco will be connected to the Bartók, (Ethernet) hopefully things will be more stable?
Please be aware that very rarely does basic internet ‘speed’ cause an issue nowadays - most audio streaming uses less than a couple of megs of internet bandwidth - often issues such as latency (how long it takes for a packet of data to arrive after it has been requested) or DNS issues (a lookup for the IP address of a service provider is asked for and either no response is given or an incorrect response is given due to out of date DNS tables) are more to blame when it is internet related.
In this case, as Mosaic is losing contact with your dCS kit then I’d also suspect that it is an ‘internal’ issue with your own network.
I see you’ve already pulled out the switch but do you have any WiFi extenders, mesh network extenders or Ethernet over Mains devices in use?
Hi Phil
None at all.
Issue now fixed! The ‘Player Port’ on the N5 had not been enabled, and before you Nowhere in the N5 Instruction manual does it mention that. @PAR will back me on that
