I have another suggestion regarding the new option. Could Bartok after a given time, e.g. 10 minutes, when no sound is played and no signal appears on the inputs, go into standby automatically? Maybe we will not save electricity in this way or reduce the greenhouse effect, but when a forgetful one like me forgets to turn off the device in the evening after listening, it will turn off automatically and reduce display consumption.
Regards Robert
Bumping this one - feels like it should be a really simple thing to implement - and having set at say 2 hours would not be distracting, but would protect my screen overnight and save a modicum of electricity.
Hi Guys,
You can turn off the display already if that’s what you are looking to do and it will come back on briefly when you make a change …
Standby (short press on the power button) itself on a Bartok / Rossini / Vivaldi doesn’t really do much in the way of power saving as to be able to be brought back out of standby from the remote or Mosaic then most of the unit needs to still be awake …
A long press of the power button does shut down the system (control board, streaming board, DAC board etc.) and drops the power consumption right down but of course you then need to physically go and press the power button on the front of the unit to power it on - you can’t do it from the remote or Mosaic.
Is what you are wanting just a longer timeout on the display turning off again when you turn off the display in the units menus?
Interestingly we did have to implement a full Auto Standby on Varese to comply with the current EU power regs where it does actually power down the whole system and every system I’ve had contact with has had that turned off by the dealer or customer. ![]()

Thanks Phil
What I personally think would be useful would be auto standby. That way the screen goes off after a set time - but the unit is still warm.
I know many people just permanently turn the screen off in Mosaic, but I prefer the have it on when I’m playing music, but would like the unit (DAC and Clock via RS232) to go into standby after a period of inactivity. I know I can push the button myself, but a nod to power saving and a bigger nod to extending the life of the screen would work for me ![]()
…so no - not this - full power down isn’t what anybody wants I don’t think. Standby should be Standby as it’s currently implemented - short press - or my proposal of 120 mins inactivity.
Of course you are right when it comes to the display. When applying for this function, I was thinking about going into sleep of the whole device and not just only the display of . Best regards Robert
