[FAQ] have connected two AES outputs of my CD Transport to the Dual AES input of my dCS DAC. Why does the DAC display 16/88.2 and the output sound strange?

Dual AES in not the same as using two identical AES outputs together – you cannot double the sample rate in this way. Dual AES uses a specific coding system to split high sample rate data between two AES interfaces running at half the rate. This gives reduced interface jitter compared to a single interface. Scarlatti or Paganini Transports with current software have a new “Vivaldi Mode”, which changes the Transport’s two AES outputs into a Dual AES DSD interface. To use Vivaldi Mode, make sure the Scarlatti / Paganini DAC software is 1.30 or later.
