EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra....a poor man's Stromtank

I have long noticed a substantial difference in the tonal quality of my Rossini Apex with Vivaldi clock based headphone system at different times of the day. I have had a dedicated line to this system to a Wattgate outlet to a Running Springs Audio Danielle Power purifier.

I recently decided to take the plunge into battery power and am now powering using a EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra inverter and lithium battery. I did this after reading about Dan D’agastino’s use of Stromtank battery based power products.

I’m hearing substantial improvement and can easily go back and forth between the power grid and the battery simply by disconnecting the inverter from the wall.

I’m finding the level of improvement to be as dramatic as when I went from the Rossini to Rossini Apex which was quite notable.

Has anyone here experimented with battery power…if so, I’d be interested to hear your experience.

I added a battery to my solar inverter two years ago. The way this works in my setup is that it is still coupled to the grid.

  1. The inverter needs grid power to be there i.e. not an ‘island’ setup and my inverter does not have a backup function to work on battery power alone;
  2. In good sunny months here on the Northern hemisphere this means the battery fills up and that in turn can power the house during the evening and night. There’s not enough in the darker months of November up to February. Also, as we have an ‘all-electric’ household the heat-pump uses a lot of energy in those months.
  3. The inverter actively tries to power the house with the battery and constantly measures the usage to be able to power from the battery.

And yes in turn I feel this tends to sound better than before I had the battery, and also has less variation throughout the day. It might not be the exact same as a Stromtank which I think acts more as a buffer so your equipment is not powered by the grid directly.

As long as I take some care of when I charge my car I have a pretty good supply of solar battery power.

If you go that way…You will eventually buy a nuclear power plant ! Not sure your neighbourhood will appreciate :laughing:

Hardly with my 14kWh battery :slightly_smiling_face: but I do my part for sustainability. The car has 77kWh, if and when V2H comes I could use that.
