That’s right—I’m a Vivaldi system headphone user, and I’ve always been curious why every other model includes the Expanse feature while Vivaldi is the only exception. It feels a little disappointing because, despite investing more in the flagship system, it seems to offer fewer features in this regard. I completely understand that there may be technical or design reasons behind this, but I was wondering if dCS could share whether there are any plans to bring Expanse support to Vivaldi in the future.

I’m myself the happy owner of a Bartók APEX with a Headphone amp, but I now prefer to use dedicated amplifiers for my quite power hungry Susvara or Abyss 1266 cans.
Here, only having access to the Expanse settings when the Bartók internal HP amp is selected is also quite a limitation…

Given that the Rossini does offer Expanse, while lacking an headphone section, makes me think there’s not need for a special circuitry for that to work, it’s just a matter of a commercial choice. A puzzling one.

I hadn’t viewed the forum for a while, but noticed this thread a day or two ago, and would be very interested to try this early access release of v3.0 (I’d be pleased to provide as much feedback as I can).
is it too late to get access? (I submitted the form yesterday morning.)
I appreciate that the test period may only run for another couple of weeks or so, but it would be nice to try it out, if that’s possible.

I am just writing to put your mind at ease that ultimately you really will not miss out on anything even if the early release needs have been met.The early access is what would usually be called a beta test. This has now been running for some weeks.Once tested by users in the field might result in further work if issues are discovered.
I strongly suggest in any case hat you just keep a regular eye on this forum as the availability of the finial version with its release notes will appear here in due course.
6 weeks of testing were planned, 4 weeks and a couple of days are gone, we’re almost there, I doubt they’re going to allow more ppl to join, it wouldn’t make much sense. Unless they want to extend the beta testing period for some reason.

I assume it must be too late to join in, which is understandable. However, if it is not, I would love to be given access to start trying it out. I filled out the form a few days ago. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to its official release.

I know you won’t be able to give exact details, but did it go well? Some modifications required? Is a final release to be expected within days, a few weeks, a (few) month(s)?
It has gone really well, and I’m genuinely blown away with the quality of feedback we’ve received from users who were involved. As well as helping us understand preferences around the new audio features, users have also highlighted a number of opportunities for us to improve documentation and the overall user experience.
As for the General Availability release of v3.0, we don’t currently have a timeline that we can share. The purpose of running an Early Access Program is to gather feedback that can directly influence the final product, and we’re now at the stage where we need to review the findings from the program and decide how best to incorporate them into release firmware. That means the work ahead is driven by the outcomes of Early Access rather than by a predetermined schedule.
At this point I can’t provide any specific details regarding release timing or the final feature set. Between now and release, features may be refined, changed, expanded upon or, where appropriate, removed as we continue development and validation work.
What I can say is that the program has provided exactly the kind of feedback we were hoping for, and I’m very grateful to everyone who took the time to participate. We’ll share more information on v3.0 when we’re ready to do so.

While I’m biting my nails, eagerly awaiting the final 3.0 release, can you kindly confirm if it will also be available to Vivaldi One (Apex) owners like me?
I can see several assumptions here this will be the case, but I don’t think I saw a confirmation from dCS.

Good question, and something that might be different in implementation between Vivaldi One as an all-in-one compared to the Vivaldi stack that might have limitations from the dual AES connection? So I might think that Vivaldi One could actually get there earlier. But dCS will know more when they can say something about it.

I really appreciate the opportunity to participate in the beta; it was fun to critically, explore all the filter options, both old and new. The new software sounds amazing! As an audiophile, I lean toward the “ buy and hold” camp so I greatly appreciated dCS’ commitment to continually improving its products.
