Regarding the difference in sound, I clearly hear a difference and I’m happy with it. If someone doesn’t hear it, that’s fine, right? I just said try the app for free. If you don’t hear a difference, that’s fine, right? But the €200 lifetime price for the app… I think it’s a steal for me.
If you click the gear icon next to the device in question in the settings, you can toggle gapless on/off. I don’t have a dCS streamer, so I can’t check it, but I can with my N50, and it works perfectly with gapless.
There are more “hidden” features in the app. I’ve been using it for three weeks now and I’m still learning, while Jplay never stops trying to use new features. Be sure to click on all the different icons, sometimes holding them down for a while.
Indeed. If you believe you hear a difference, that’s fine. Just that technically, as a UPnP Control Point, it’s not in the music streaming path and as such has absolutely no way to alter the sound quality of UPnP streams flowing directly between the UPnP Server and the Streamer/DAC.
Folks thinking of purchasing it should definitely “try before you buy”.
Thanks Andrew, admittedly I haven’t tried it in quite a while, it didn’t in earlier versions.
Hi, I have been all around the merry-go-round on this topic in search of SQ. I have driven myself and many DCS support people and Forum users crazy as well as investing many $$$$$$. After a couple of years I have landed with the following conclusions and components: 1- As DCS recommends “Network” connection over “USB” is the way to go for me. 2- MinimServer and Mosaic provided the top SQ in my system but regretfully I just could not handle all the stress and manipulation I found necessary in using MinimServer to get it where I want it. So I found the Small Green Computer Co who makes reasonable priced servers that do the best implementation of Roon on their server I have found. I have a SonicTransporter I7 with a linear power supply , my Rossini connected to a Puritan 156 power station virtually eliminated “Noise” running the Roon core with the music files on the server, meta data run through SongKong. It provided me with the most organized “Correct” library management, best SQ Roon sound I have found at a cost roughly a third of other big name servers. For what it worth I probably get between 97 to 99% of the SQ available from my Rig . I had to stop driving myself and everyone else crazy and stitch my wallet pocket shut for a while. End game for me on this score My system is the Rossini Apex Player, powered by the Auris Headonia 800B tube amp, driving Susvara Unvailed .
That sounds like a killer combo Anthony, Enjoy! I had the opportunity to listen to the Headonia 300B (albeit through Immanis) at Canjam in Dubai and was very impressed.
Liked them a lot, felt like good synergy with the Headonia amp. Wasn’t able to compare directly with the Unveileds this time but those two are pretty much the top of the tree for me.
Never been tempted by the Susvara Unveiled, but I admit I am intrigued by the Immanis. I was an early RAAL Requisite adopter, and I still listen to mine on occasion, but my 9000 and Susvara get 95% of my headphone listening time.
Very sorry Gregg, but I can’t help you with either I’m afraid.
Firstly, as you know my T2 is driven by a Vivaldi, whereas I listened to the Headonia sourced from a Moon network streamer (681?) which probably costs less than the Vivaldi Clock. I don’t have nearly enough experience with either amp together with different sources to be able to even speculate on what was contributing what. Secondly, I don’t own X9000s (no “black cable” Staxes at all in fact) and have only heard them once, very briefly in a completely unfamiliar system.
My subjective impression was however that the Moon/Headonia/Immanis combo delivered similar levels of musical enjoyment to my Vivaldi/T2/SR-007 Mk I combo. More weight in the bass but less detail, less “texture”, and maybe better macro-dynamics but weaker micro-dynamics. The highs were sweet but lacked that gossamer delicacy I get with my Stax combo. For about €35,000 all-in it is an absolutely killer system, although I would love to have heard the Headonia/Immanis driven by a DAC X!
