After I got the rossini Apex I have been surprised at how big a difference there is between different bnc clock cables between the clock and the player.
The original DCS cables are ok, but lack clarity and definition.
What experiences have you tried out, and how did it turn out in terms of sound?
I have ended up with Ansuz D and Transparent XL for my part, but want more headroom and air in the upper midrange and treble. Does anyone have any thoughts?
It is very hard to make a suggestion. Everyone hears differently and it might be , for example, that you prefer a slightly exaggerated treble or have a system that has been voiced originally with this in mind and your changes work against this. BTW, this isn’t any form of criticism, just a reflection of reality. You have been trying very costly cables that seem not to satisfy and you may now be in a position to experiment with few barriers. However I cannot speculate on your resulting personal conclusions.
Hallo Pete. Thanks for your constrectivee feedback.
The Ansuz and Transparent are the best cables I have tried so far, and they make the sound go towards the right direction, but there might be other configurations that also work well, and I hope to hear what other users have done in their set up.
Hallo Leo. I have had DCS since the Elgar, and were thinking for many years that it was not that important. To day I use a Rossini Apex and clock, and it is almost frustrating how big an impact the type of clock cable makes to the sound, not just in terms of tonal balance, but also in the air, headroom, clarity and definition in the music, all in all they are important if realism is something that you are locking for. I have a fairly moderat and soft system, Accuphase Clas a amps, Verity speakers, Synergistic and Ansuz cables, so if you go fore a more analytical setup these cables will differ even more, as I see it. Do not save on the clocking cables Regards Ole.
Which Veritys do you have Ole? Back in the day I had a pair of Parsifal Encores. Wonderful speakers that I always felt were a little bit underappreciated. With a dCS front end and Accuphase amps I am guessing you have a big smile on your face…
I confirm impact of clock cable. I compared diy, original, sound labs , oyaide and cybershaft silver version. And all of them brought their plus and minus. Than I got the chance to test during 3 weeks a shunyata sigma V2, and there you into another world. It’s true he is pricey, but results was higher than expected, sharp focalisation, bass better contrôled and articulated. High and medium were smoother. So I decided, and was crazy to choose the Omega version. And there , right out of the box, all improvement explained above were better in every way. Absolutely no regrets.
Hallo stutes. I have a pair of Lohengrin 2, Accuphase A-200 monos, with a 3850 pre.(as you are a bit into Accuphase). At present the sound is a bit to forward in the uper part, but it is also very real and livelike. I am working on the room as well as with the cabling. I have not wonted to change speakers after I mowed into a smaler room, after trying one set of Amadis S. Nice speakers, but a bit “Micky mousey” so I ended up having to fit a to big pair of speakers for a 20 square meter room. Regards Ole
