Such a loss. Thanks for everything. Play on!
First time I heard Chick Corea, in 1976:
Back in those days, I was a school boy and stage hand/ roadie for a local jazz band, heavily influenced by Chick Corea. Their keyboard player had a Mini Moog. I was fascinated by its sound, and had to have one too. But unreachable for a school boy. I managed to get a Korg MS-20 though in 1978.
I am very sorry to hear this.
I was fortunate the hear him live twice in London . Once with Return to Forever at Ronnie Scott’s ( 1973?) and once with his Electric Band remarkably at our local theatre in my borough of Lewisham .
Of course this represents only a tiny fraction of his musical output. By some odd coincidence one of our national classical music radio stations (BBC R3) broadcast a live chamber music programme yesterday including his " Children’s Songs".
You live in Lewisham area Pete? I was brought up in Blackheath!
Blackheath? Even closer, I live in Lee.
I frequent the ‘Tigers Head’, many a time!
Too early here for me to be that thirsty. Eh, maybe not. Sun’s up.
Lovely image, but because of some previous medical issues, I can’t do hard alcohol. Beer and wine. So, mimosas!
