Can you turn off the remote

Hi all

Question: Can you turn off or adjust the remote? Reason is, i have another remote that when you turn volume down, it switches in puts on the upsampler.
Probably not but i thought i would ask

If not, a vinyl sticker over the sensor might be an alternative. Not exactly high-tech, but should work.

I have sorted a way to stop it.
I have gone into the menu then into configuration and locked the settings
