Brand New Bartók doesn’t fit my Naim Fraim

When I purchased my Bartok my dealer and I anticipated this problem and experimented with 3 HRS Nimbus round isolation feet.

As for glass - agreed. My friend Nick D, partner with Chris West at AV Options here in the States ( if you know Naim you know them) lives in San Francisco and at one point replaced all of his Fraim glass with Corian. Anti earthquake

Understood. Nevertheless maybe worthwhile planning for a later date. You should get some money back from a private sale which I expect may cover the cost of , say, a Quadraspire unit ( in bamboo).

Meanwhile @glevethan , @Dunc and @Bauer offer good ideas even if pro tem.

Hiya Dunc
Do you mean, bin the glass and just use isolation feet, similar to ISO Accoustics?
If so, would they go directly under the feet of the Bartók, or sit just in front of them?

Hi Greg
I can’t push the Bartók back otherwise the glass will be off the front ball bearings & cups? Am I being a bit thick here?:joy::thinking:

If you use 3 isolation feet underneath (Isoacoustics, HRS etc.) then you have the flexibility to position the Bartok anyway you want on the glass (you stated you did not like the fact the front of the Bartok sat too far forward).

As for any isolation feet, they do not go underneath the feet of the Bartok. They make direct contact with the underneath chassis. Many use 3 instead of 4 in a tripod arrangement which then prevents rocking

Ah right👍 Cheers Gregg.

Found a picture of my old bartok with Nordost sort cones isolation feet . As others have suggested you can try something similar with your Naim rack .

How long a go was that? Looks a lovely set up, especially with the pictures behind.:+1:

The previous photo was taken 2.5 years ago. I replaced the bartok and meridian 808v6 ( cd / dac ) with the Rossini player apex as shown here . These paintings have found refuge in the man cave as my better half has banned them from the other rooms . I like to experiment with using different types of racks and I don’t like big units dominating the space.

Looks fab👍
Is that just a power amp underneath?

It’s a ch precision a1.5 power amp . I run the Rossini directly to it via balanced xlr . The speakers are stenheim alumine 3 . I have a benchmark headphone pre amp that I use for occasional headphone listening but I don’t use its pre amp for speaker listening .

Hiya
So without digging up the various posts, “with or without a Pre amp”. Did you have a pre on your old system?
My new Bartók only arrived on Wednesday, so it’s still burning in as we speak. In the very near future I will trying the Bartók directly in to my power amp, which is at the moment, a Naim 300. Who knows, but that may change in the future.

Your system looks lovely and uncomplicated. May I ask what your system sits on? I don’t think it’s Ikea!:smirk::grinning:

I moved from an all Meridian DSP system to dcs / ch precision / stenheim based system . I’ve tried to minimise box count so didn’t feel the need for a preamp as I was happy with the sound and my listening is mostly near field. The rack is indeed an Ikea hack ( the grey colour matching the speakers ). Currently I am using a Naim fraim lite as shown . In the corner out of sight I have a hifi racks limited oak rack which houses the power amp , headphone amp and turntable ( for the occasional vinyl experience ).

Nice photo

Out of curiosity - why Fraim? Were you a former Naim owner?

PS nice speakers (I run the 5 SE’s)

Best

Hi Gregg, I’ve never owned Naim in my life but I liked the look of the Naim fraim rack - stylish , discrete and it is relatively light .
I really like stenheim speakers - congrats on your 5 SEs .

@Stockholm1973 what brand of rack is this? I love it.

Re-asking the question because I believe the first one was confused with another post/photo/rack.

The problem with fraim is that the rear leg gets in the way, especially as it’s not that deep.
Plus it can certainly bring on a forward presence to the music especially on the glass. It also resonates well in the alloy box sections.
But it work’s for naim gear, but i found that not much else liked sitting on it much.

That reminds me of some years ago wtih a friend possessing a rack with glass selves ( not Naim). The selves were replaced with panels cut from maple. Not hugely expensive but a significant improvement.
