Before posting, I did a quick search to see if this topic has already been covered, but I didn’t find anything. Apologies if I missed it.
I’ve noticed that when I disconnect my Bartók from the network, it takes several minutes for it to be discovered again. Once it’s connected, everything works fine—but the wait time always gives me pause. I’m not sure if this is normal behavior or if there’s something I can do on my end to speed up the reconnection process.
Here’s a quick overview of my network setup:
Wi-Fi mesh system
Roon Nucleus connected to one mesh node
Bartók connected to a different mesh node via a 30 ft unshielded Cat6 Ethernet cable
If I’ve left out any important details, just let me know. Thanks!
OK, I’m not familiar with it but a quick search doesn’t throw up any known issues with handling multicast, which as described in this really helpful post by @anupc is an essential part of the Mosaic (re)discovery process that surprisingly many consumer networking products, especially mesh, seem to have problems with.
One simple workaround for this problem is to get the IP address of the Bartók (from the front panel) and then input it manually (press the cogwheel top right in Mosaic while the wheel of death is spinning).
For me rediscovery usually takes 1-2 seconds max. It may be that your network processes multicast correctly but slowly?
