Bartók Apex locked up

Hiya Pete
Your post has reminded me of a NAD cassette player that I had in 1990. It developed a fault within the warranty period, so I returned it for repair.

The engineers report came back as, damage caused by the customer, by spilling Coca Cola inside the unit!
I am OTT when it comes to looking after my music system. I have never had any drink or food with 2 metres of my system. And the only person that dusts it, is me!
My Mrs is not allowed to even breathe near it!

I can imagine how you must have felt Pete.

Do they make these fictitious diagnoses to negate any possible claims under warranty? “Not covered, your fault” ?

Let me clarify myself.
Reading all these posts from other members that experienced problems with their Bartok gave me the impression there is something fundamentally wrong with that unit. But as said it is just the impression I got. May very well be all totally unrelated issues that all happen to give the same symptoms. Hence the question. Are they all unrelated and just giving the same symptoms? Or is there something fundamentally wrong with the Bartok and if so why is this not solved? If it is all just coincidence then that’s fine with me. As said mine gives the same problem every once in a while, about once every 1-2 months or so if memory serves me well. I just give the little bugger a POR then and all is fine again. No problem,at least not enough to send the unit back. That’s all,was just wondering/asking. No harm in doing that I think.

One thing that it illustrates is that dCS have sold more Bartoks than other models ( see also the v.3 update thread).

To draw any conclusion one needs to know the % of each model which exhibits this type of fault to make comparisons. The number of Bartoks reported here with this fault is still pretty low (5?) so a small sample. Of course there may be others which we on the forum know nothing about. Most faults relating to all models will not be reported here as most dCS owners do not contribute here.

The main point is that dCS offers gold standard support if anything goes wrong.
