I changed my plixir liniear power supply to Ifi elite (S100), quite a difference in my system. Two client’s at my dealer tried the same, both of them also changed from a linear power supply to the Ifi elite.
I am not saying this will work out the same in all systems, but as the Ifi Elite is reasonably priced it’s worth a try.
I will remark that a significant option for those using Plixir Elite is that choices are offered for the DC supply cord, The reference one is IMO worth the extra.
I am about to make a decision to buy a Rossini apex brand new before the price increase next year.
And I will keep the existing bartok apex and trade the other dac for a new rossini.
Even if I also feel the bartok sounds more airy with extended highs with my aurender n20 and n30, I will also trade both aurenders for the a new amp.
While excited for the new amp, I may later regret for selling out both aurenders, but I also want to try a new amp while trying out dCS’ internal renderer.
Try to audition the amp you want to buy at home if possible, I tried a Moon 860A V2 but with the high gain of that amp (31dB) it was difficult to keep the Rossini volume control in the correct range with 2V/6V output. Also tried a Mola Mola Perca, with that amp (gain can be switched between 22 and 28 dB) the volume control on my Rossini perfectly stays in the preferred range in my system.
I will soon demo the rossini apex and mbl n51. From the previous experience, the 6V output of bartok apex was best with or without preamp.
I will see how it goes with n51 integrated amp.
