Any suggestions on Headphone AMP's for Rossini Apex Player?

Hi, any one have some thoughts or suggestions on headphone amps for Rossini Apex Player?

Depends really on what headphones you are going to use and how they sound against what sound you are looking for.
As the dCS dac is very natural sounding.
Also if you have rca’s or balanced outputs un used.

Hi Anthony,

Although, according to your reports here, you already have tried several, here is a pretty comprehensive list of what is available on Earth:

Lina Headphone Amp of course!

Thank you all and Yes I have tried several…the journey never ends in this sometime cursed hobby searching for the Holy Grail … appreciated

Thought you might say that…I have one as well

I have owned the Riviera AIC-10 for about 5 years and to me it was the best headphone amplifier I ever experienced.
I have used it in combination with the Bartók.

Check this forum for all HeadFi.
You can find everything there.

They are impossible to find pre-owned, but I was able to experience it a while ago and agree but the cost new is now out of control?

Hi Anthony,

They are indeed quite expensive these days.
Every now and then one comes up for sale on Headfi, but otherwise you can keep an eye on Audiomarkt (https://www.audio-markt.de/market). Second-hand, they go for between €11,000 and €15,000.
Make sure to buy one suited for your region, you can’t convert a 240 Volt version to 115 Volt and vice versa.

Best of luck!

As a tube amp lover, I personally own a Feliks Audio Envy.

Quite enjoyable and easily drives either my 1266 or my Susvara.

There is one available at the UK eBay for £10.500.

I have just bought an Enleum HPA-23RM. Using the current mode output into my Campfire Moon Rover. I don’t have other high end headphone amp experience, but this thing is phenomenal.

For really hungry full size headphones, maybe consider the AMP-23R and consider the normal amplifier a bonus feature.

I have arranged an in home demo of the Auric Headonia 300B which is an anniversary edition . I also am looking at the 2nd get Woo wa 33.

It has a high input sensitivity, so you will need to lower your output voltage of your Rossini Player to 2V:

Input Sensitivity (for max power/voltage at output) SE input BAL input
0.8V 1.6V

Good morning. I was doing some reading and came across this note. I am curious to understand this more. With the Rossini at 6V output my Headonia sound perfect also using high gain so the volume knob never gets much above 11 o’clock. Is this bad for the amp that I am running at 6V vs the noted 2V. At 2v it just seems to lose some UMPH ? Thoughts?

It is usually no problem, as you already found out. The headamp’s volume control is in a workable range, as you indicate. If you hear no distortion, then your headamp can handle the 6V, despite its lower rated input sensitivity. There might be an input buffer, so it can accept higher input voltages. And anyway, the 6V will only be 6V from your Rossini during the loudest peaks.

It all depends on the input sensitivity of the amp ( and what you consider as bad). Input sensitivity is usually quoted as the input voltage that results in the full output of the amp before clipping. However many amps allow some headroom. exceeding the rated sensitivity may increase measured distortion even if clipping is not reached.

It is important to bear in mind that when the dCS DAC output setting is rated as 6V his does not necessarily mean that it is producing 6V. It is 6V with an ncoming signal level of 0.0dBfs. An actual music signal may vary voltage demands continuously and many fine recordings may never produce 0.0dBfs at any point or rarely. Other recordings may have limited dynamic range and maintain levels close to 0.0dBfs throughout or even exceed this for short periods (victims of the loudness war)

The amp you are using is not known ( you have mentioned several in past postings). So the answer is maybe or maybe not . My view is if it sounds fine for you then likely it is fine.

the AMP is the Headonia 800B

So its a Hedonia 800 B Tube amp
Rossini Apex Player
AB: 1266 Cans
Synology NAS running MinimServer/Moasic

That is of course 300 B…sorry
