In previous post, I mentioned:
My study system was simple: Rossini apex+ Pass X600.8+ yg Sonja.
After extensive research and dealer recommendation, I added Pass xp32 and Aurender w20se.The result was ample ambience in the highs (xp32) and recessed vocal and violins (x20se’s dual aes), which I feel much more natual and fartigue free.
This time, I added Synthesis Roma 117dc pre between Bartok apex and MasterminD 845 monos driving yg Vantage.
It did make Vantage much more romantic (not typical yg SQ) and enjoyable.
Now I have two sets of dCS and YG, each of which was driven by SS and Valve.
They are totally different in sound and I enjoy both a lot. Thebsonic presentation; one is clear, tight, transpatent (like in Porsche) the other is romantic, ambient and with spacial echos(like in Range rover).
Eventually I think that adding a renderer or a preamp to dCS is a matter of changing the sonic signature which is not a good or bad sound issue…
Two great looking systems, can you tell me what type/make of footers you have under your speakers.
I have the YG acoustic hailey’s, after installing a new floor in my apartment I tried some Ansuz Darkz under the speakers, it was a considerable upgrade in my system SQ wise.
I did not like the way it looked and handled. (Moving the speakers)
The darkz made the system sound “more free flowing” with better transients and low frequency control.
Now looking for something else with simular results.
Spike disc is placed on top of the Darkz DTC, I am afraid it will slide off when someone by accident bumps into the speaker. Also total height from floor to speaker is a bit much.
SQ results compared to spikes only is stunning, nothing to complain.
