I have an Innuos Stream 3 with an 8 tb SSD and the Innuos USB reclocking board, running Roon, which feeds my Bartok Apex via a Transparent USB cable. I can’t say I hear a difference between streamed vs. stored content, but I do hear a huge improvement over running Roon on my PC and storing downloads on my NAS. Also there’s an even greater improvement over letting the Bartok do the streaming via Mosaic. Two thumbs up to Innuos! So, I think your Melco was a good choice. The fact that you can’t hear a difference between streaming and local likely indicates that you have an excellent network and that your streamer is preserving the timing.
