Hello,
I am a very happy owner of the Bartok; I bought it without a remote, because I currently have an integrated amp that I use as a pre-amp. But I am planing to go for monoblocks soon…
Is there any chance that the current (long, and ugly) IR remote control be replaced by a more compact, heavier, remote control? I need something with an efficient rotating volume control, and a power on/off button, that is all!
Keep on the good work, and thank you!
Regards, Diego
There is a rumour that the neat IR remote that comes with Lina DAC X may have its coding expanded to include other models. So if they do this your requirements may be covered. However this new remote does not have sufficient buttons to allow CD transport control. The latter is a significant reason why the plank is so large.
Thank you Pete for your info, though this is quite disapointing that dCS give up the idea of a rotary knob for the volume control…
I already have a similar control, a very effective one, that I bought 10 €. I just hoped that some day I won’t have to consider buying a 250.000 € device just to have a remote control that every product from dCS deserves…
Hi Diego,
Since Bartok does not have a transport, you are already presumably using a music server. If you are going to run Bartok direct to a power amp, or to mono blocks, and thus use the DAC’s preamp, as many of us do, you can simply control everything except the on/off switch from: your phone, your iPad, Google tablet, etc.
The remote is currently not suitable for any component other than the Lina DAC X however. Further it does not meet the OP’s concern that he wants a rotary volume control.
