For me, Vivaldi has brought a piano sound that seems consistently natural - and very pleasing - even though recordings of the instrument over the last 75 years or so can be very different in nature. This Monk record is from 1958, I think. (And the XRCD is a good one.)

An Esther Phillips fan! Me too. I think I’ll go and see what music I have of hers tonight. Did this album ever come out on CD? Someone once gave me a rather beaten up copy of the LP, but I sold my vinyl about 15 years ago.

Indeed it did. In one of Atlantic’s later fishing expeditions through their back catalogue.
