For those who share this interest, NativeDSD is having a sale on all 2xDSD recordings, more specifically, their library of Analog to DSD256 remasters.
I may or may not have just spent this week’s salary
Thanks but if Native DSD have an offer on DSD256 dCS usets can’t play them of course.
Hi Pete,
The general consensus is that dCS will release DSD256 capability at some point in the (hopefully near) future. Accordingly, the approach, which Jonathan (@Bauer) helpfully shared with me, is to purchase and download the DSD256 version now, and then have Roon downsample it to DSD128 before passing it down the chain. This file is playable today, and this approach avoids needing to re-download your DSD collection at some point in the future. I only purchase the DSD256 version if the analog-to-DSD transfer was done in that format. If the tape transfer was done at DSD128, I use that version, with no downsampling required.
Cheers,
Richard

Who on earth needs yet another recording of ‘the Four Seasons’?
It transpires that I do!

One of my top five albums…just a remarkable record and superb SQ.
Joni sings beautifully and the Kathleen Battle track is sublime.
