Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers “Moanin’ (Remastered 2013)” 1958, Qobuz 24/192
This was a great throwback Jonathan, thanks! I was really into Suzanne Vega back in the day. So I played “Nine Objects” today and noticed that she’s started releasing albums again, starting with this one. Somehow I missed that memo (despite the fact it won a Grammy). So now I am taking a brief break from my jazz retrospective to catch up with her latest stuff.

I’m glad that it struck a chord with you (pun intended
).
That’s what it’s all about…
The music, especially artists or albums that we haven’t listened to in a while.
‘Enjoy’, as my eldest son likes to say.
Yes, that’s one of the (few) big disadvantages of streaming over CDs, I can’t just run my finger along a shelf and retrace my own musical development. I ripped about 2/3 of them before streaming sites started releasing standard resolution but then domestic circumstances overtook me and I was forced to pack them up in conjunction with a remodelling of our apartment. They are now all sitting in moving boxes in a friend’s barn! Maybe I’ll exhume them one day if my dedicated listening room project at the summer cottage ever comes to fruition. In the meantime please feel free to continue to jog my memory!
I think you should…
I certainly will!
