Showing (off) your dCS setup - description and photos

Thanks for information. What I meant was the connection of the Rossini, or any other dCS unit, to what they call the RouteMaster, which then connects to the GroundMaster. I understand they supply RCA and XLR cables for ground connection. I wondered if people had experimented and which was the best socket to use with dCS equipment in terms of SQ improvement.

One thing I’m not clear about is if you select an input, say network or spdif for example, the other inputs are then disabled. This might mean that if one is being used as the ground connection it would have no effect. But then I’m probably completely wrong on this…

Please see if this helps.

@hifimckinney 's posting of the images is very helpful to explain the grounding system. As far as I can tell without hands on experience, Routmaster is a connection device for up to nine components instead of (say) each being connected to a single power block as illustrated. Each of the connected units thereby then share the same earth point. Each component will have then an earth point connected to the external master ground point via Routmaster. This would not disable any unit as all continue to be connected to ground.

Hope I’m right :crossed_fingers:.

Of course for best advice contact Mike Lester at Puritan Audio. He is very helpful and easy to talk to.

I understand what you are saying now. Irrespective of which input is active, earth (negatives) of any input is always connected to ground via body of the device.

Not always. It depends on the device designer’s choices. Shunyata has an excellent set of worksheets to check system components before setting up their Altaira grounding system. Signal grounds are not always bonded to safety ground (earth).

I’m in awe of sooo many of the systems shown. Thank you!!
Finally decided to share my humble gathering of old, used and demo pieces for our family multi purpose 2ch and HT. Hope the picture works

Nice, Chris! Looks a great system, even if your room drives you nuts. (That’s most of us, no?!)

Love the Pass Labs gear. Very fond memories of my XA60.8s and the precursor to your XP-32, the XP-30 :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Rossini Apex player burning-in…

Thank you, Ben
If you are thinking HE1 - then yes - my headphone experimentation is over (except for maybe adding the original Orpheus at some point). The inbuilt DAC is actually very good indeed, although bettered by the Rossini by some margin. Still early days with the Rossini - but I like what I am hearing!

Yep, that’s the fella. And that’s one way to end headphone experimentation. My experimenting has got me to five headphones staying. I think your way is tidier :joy:

One day, I would love to get the opportunity to listen to the HE1

Love the idea of purple heart for the arm board. Not the easiest of timber to work with, however. Maybe (like Naim) we should have a “show us your woodwork thread”

Hi Lee,

Great looking Revox PR99 MK II :+1:

Do you ever use it? If so, how does it sound nowadays, compared to your digital setup?

Yes, quite often but my tape collection needs building.
