Does she know the price of your wifi ? If she doesn’t, I would keep it secret if I were you. The price is very often the issue, the horrible look of the system too, but in your case she can be happy, we have seen much worse than that…
She knows EVERYTHING…that’s the second problem
A few weeks ago my wife helped me carry a 95lb D’Agostino Momentum S250 MxV amplifier upstairs for home demo.
Unfortunately it did not remain and she had to help me carry it downstairs again😆
Maybe that is why I remain infatuated with @T38.45 Nagra setup. Lighter and smaller than my Naim 552/500 four box setup
but many boxes—and cables…she hates cables and boxes…of course
I see the venerable SB Touch. I used to have one for many years as my streaming front end.
yeah…it just works! But I use it only as a nice clock
I thought maybe the easy to use option for other members of the household. My wife absolutely can’t use my system. Too complex
…she can’t use my system, I can’t use the washing machine
Love the USM Haller furniture for the rack.
Beautiful. I really like how you’ve hidden the sources to highlight the Nagras.
What’s behind doors #2 and #4?
; )
Looks great, are the speakers in their normal listening position ?
You might be able to increase the SQ by moving the speakers further into the room, at least no obstacles between the speakers.
it’s the Innuos switch (soon replaced by Ansuz D3) and on the other side an old Pioneer CD player working as transport.
you’re right- but my wife would kill me
Just move them in an inch every week and keep insisting nothing changed
I actually did just that, and thought i was getting away with it.
Well until one evening my dinner plate was only half full, obviously i questioned this, only to be told " no it’s the same just like the speakers are"
Dam it ,found out my wife also knew how to use a tape measure.
Ive done that
I’d be more concerned if she handed you the dinner plate broken in half!
Sounds like you had a narrow escape
Yesterday was expensive.
The tubes on my old integrated Jadis reached end of life a few weeks ago, this prompted some broader questions about the future direction of my system, and after ~15+ years of tubes, I have decided to shift to solid state amplification.
After much research and recommendations from people I trust, including information on this forum, I decided on the Boulder 2160. Boulder has been in business for a long time, does its own in-house manufacturing, and is well-regarded in the US.
I view this as a long-term purchase that can future-proof my system and accommodate future speaker upgrades for many years. Of course anyone can write what they like in a review, but this is my view at this time: “This is an amplifier with depth. No musical signal – no matter how complex – will challenge it, and no loudspeaker – no matter how difficult to drive – will ruffle its feathers.”
The 2160 comes with its own power cord and the instructions not to change it, avoiding the temptation to spend money on a new power cord. It is a fully balanced design.
Kenzo at Boulder was exceptional and I feel like I will get outstanding service from the Boulder team, should I need it. When you are dealing with a 320lb product (~150kg; boxed), I feel it is better to have local service options.
As upgrades go, this purchase of course “necessitated” a cabling upgrade (Transparent XL interconnection and speaker cables) and as a result my simple system, upon arrival, will be four components:
Roon Nucleus
dCS Rossini Apex
Boulder 2160
Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage
I may be the only person in the US feeding a 600W amp into monitors, but the Gaurneris are special speakers and I’d like to hear what they are capable of before eventually moving to full range. I’ll share more in a month or two.
Cheers!
I have a Boulder 2160 and I love it. I’m using the power cord supplied powered from a dedicated 240 volt line. I had PS Audio BHK monos prior and they were noisy - mechanical hum and speaker hiss. Plus there always seemed to be something in the background that wasn’t supposed to be there. All that is gone with the 2160. The Boulder is dead quiet - no mechanical hum and when music is it playing total silence from the speakers regardless of how high the volume is. I am running Vivaldi direct into the amp, no preamp. I do have to change the Vivaldi output level sometimes depending upon how loud I want the music. I try to keep the Vivaldi output between -20 and 0.
