Hi all,
Thanks so much for engaging with the Edit article and offering your ideas and opinions. We value the input from our community greatly and see your feedback and engagement as a central pillar of our R&D efforts.
We have always tried to reward dCS owners’ investment in our products and our company, and we like to think we have walked the walk when it comes to product lifecycles and updates. We mean it when we say that we want to maximise the capabilities of our hardware platforms as its the only way to recoup the investment in R&D that we make over such a long period of time. Transformational performance improvements such as Mapper updates or APEX are the result of ground breaking engineering across several areas. These improvements are not something that can easily be put on a roadmap, as not every area of investigation yields results and development times can vary massively - there’s no rulebook on redefining the state of the art. Alongside this, we are always working in parallel to deliver the maximum performance and usability from every hardware platform.
The announcement of Varèse does not change our philosophy when it comes to product roadmapping and lifecycles. As has been mentioned, none of our products have been made end of life nor are we stopping developing updates for them.
Vivaldi, Rossini, Bartók, Lina and Mosaic remain the core of what we do at dCS.
We are absolutely committed to improving, enhancing and updating these products and have several updates planned for these products all the way through 2025.
Of course the products will remain current beyond 2025 but in our experience locking in a roadmap beyond 12 months out is just not possible when you are at the cutting edge of digital and have talented engineers who can come up with new ideas and approaches at any time.
It remains as true today as it always has that a dCS front end purchased today is only going to improve. Just because Varèse has been announced does not mean that Lina, Bartók, Rossini and Vivaldi are no longer state of the art. They remain best in class products which we are committed to supporting.
Please stay tuned for news of updates across Mosaic and existing dCS products.
