Does Roon have better or worse sound quality than dCS Mosaic

I have been using Roon Nucleus for many years. I use an Ethernet connection with VIVALDI upsampler+dac+clock.
Until recently, I preferred MOSAIC because it produced natural and powerful bass, but after making the following changes, Roon Nucleus started to sound better.
The setting is to set the Roon Nucleus output to USB and connect it to the SFP HUB using a USB-SFP adapter. What a difference! The sound quality of Roon improves dramatically. Give it a try.

Hi @conrans,

Welcome to the forum! Out of interest, are you talking about the SQ when streaming, playing local files or both? If the latter where are they stored and how is the storage connected?

Music files are played from NAS. Streaming is QOBUZ. By the way, the USB-SFP converter is made in Japan. Hope you can get it. https://topwing.jp/opt_usb_bridge.html

sounds interesting…so your set up looks like this?

roon nucleus-usb—-converter to sfp—-optical———sfp to usb—-vivaldi

roon nucleus-usb—-converter to sfp—-optical———HUB(SFP)ーeithernetーNAS&VIVALDI UPSANPLER

USB to SFP conversion of roon nucleus output. from the HUB, LAN connection to the device. This alone has improved SQ by far.

thanx

I stand corrected. Looks like it doesn’t actually bridge traffic in addition to media conversion .
